Мы предлагаем методическую разработку урока по проблеме: «Формирование социокультурной компетенции учащихся на уроках иностранного языка». На данном уроке реализуются принципы коммуникативного подхода к изучению английского языка на примере прохождения темы: «США. Географический и политический взгляд» в 6 классе по УМК “English-6”, О.В.Афанасьева, И. В. Михеева. Целями урока являются совершенствование коммуникативной компетенции учащихся, развитие эмоциональной и эстетической стороны в процессе обучения английскому языку и углубление знаний учащихся по страноведению. Предлагаемая форма урока- ролевая игра позволяет повышать мотивацию к обучению, развивать способности применять в речи языковую догадку, а также способствует воспитанию толерантности и личностных качеств учащихся.

Now our American guides tell us about famous sights in America. P1: I want to tell you about the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is one of America’s main tourist attractions. The Colorado River formed the Grand Canyon over millions of years. It’s interesting that there are different kinds of plants and animals on opposite sides of the canyon. Today, the canyon is one mile deep and 200 miles (320 km) long. The canyon looks different at different times of day, and in different seasons and weather. T: Thank you. It’s very interesting! P2: Look! This is The Statue of Liberty… The French people gave this statue to the American people in 1886. It is a gift of international friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States. You can walk up 354 stairs to get the top of the statue. There is a museum on Liberty Island, at the foot of the statue. The Statue of Liberty is the symbol of freedom. P4: Oh, it’s so big! P3: The main sightseeing of Washington is the White House. The White House is a pleasant, white-painted, neoclassical-style house in which the president of the USA lives and works. The building was designed in 1772 by James Hoban. At the beginning of its history the White House was called the Presidents’ House, the President palace and the President Castle. Only in 1901 it got this well-known name- the White House. P4: A good place to have fun is Disneyland where children and grown-ups can spend some great time. Disneyland Park is a theme park located in California, owned and operated by the Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Company. It was dedicated on July 17, 1955. The park hosted 600 million guests since it opened. It is the second most visited park in the world all the calendar year. P5: - Look at the screen. This is the Niagara Falls. It’s very attractive place to visit in America. The Niagara Falls is the most beautiful in the world.Niagara Falls is between Chicago and New York. The Niagara River rushes from the lake Erie to the lake Ontario over famous Niagara Falls. The loud sound of falling water can be heard 25 kilometers away from the place. T: Thank you very much. It’s amazing, I think! Tatar tourists: P1: - We like your excursion. We’ve got a surprise for you- our traditional national food - chak-chak. P2: You are welcome to Kazan! We’ll be happy to see you. Sport in the USA.
American Football (called just football in the USA) is a team sport played by two teams of people with 11 players on each side. It is played with a ball called a football that is pointed at both ends. Points are scored in many ways, usually by one team getting the ball into the end zone of the other team. A team has four chances, or "downs", to advance the ball 10 yards while the opposing team tries to stop it.
The sport is played on a grass field. The players wear protective equipment, including a helmet with facemask, shoulder pads, thigh pads, and often a mouth guard. There are many types of players on a football team. Some team members only play during certain times. These players belong to the Special Teams. Certain players advance the ball by carrying or throwing it. American football is carefully regulated by time and rules.
A college or professional football game is 60 minutes long, and is divided into 15-minute quarters. After the first two quarters, the teams rest for a few minutes during halftime. The game ends when one team scores, and the other team fails to score as many points during its chance.

The Big Apple.
People often call New York “The Big Apple”. Why? In the 1920s and 1930s, jazz musicians all wanted to work in New York. “There are a lot of apples on the tree, ”they said, “but when you take New York City, you take The Big Apple!”
Yes, everybody wanted some of The Big Apple- and they want some today, too!
More than 20 million people visit New York every year. Lots of them say it is the most exciting city in the world.
When visitors think about New York, they usually think about Manhattan- an island 21.5 km long and 3.7 km wide. New York City has 5 “boroughs”: Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. The city has 10,000 km of streets, and 7 million or more people live here.
But New York was not always a big city…
In the Beginning.
Four hundred years ago, Manhattan Island was the home of the Algonquin Indians. In 1609, a man called Henry Hudson came up the river to Manhattan. He was British but he was on a Dutch ship, The half Moon. Today, the river is called the Hudson River.
In 1626, a Dutchman called Peter Minuit came to Manhattan, and he paid the Indians about twenty-four dollars for the island. Minuit put up some houses, and called the little town New Amsterdam.
By 1647, about 5000 people lived in New Amsterdam, and the Governor was a Dutchman called Peter Stuyvesant. But in 1664, the British took the town from the Dutch and changed its name to New York.
