Uncountable Nouns
План урока английского языка: "Uncountable Nouns"
Тема: “Food and Quantifiers” (Еда и меры измерения)
Уровень: Elementary / Pre-Intermediate (A1–A2)
Возраст: 8–11 лет
Время: 45 минут
1. Warm-up. Lead-in (5 мин)
“Good morning, everyone! How are you today? Let’s talk about something fun — picnics! Do you like picnics? What do you usually eat or drink at a picnic?”
(Записывает ответы детей на доске: sandwiches, juice, apples, crisps...)
“Look what I brought!”(достаю из сумки пакет чипсов, бутылку воды, буханку хлеба)
“What is this? Yes — it’s bread. But can we say ‘one bread’? No! We say: ‘a loaf of bread’. Repeat after me: a loaf of bread.”
(Пишет на доске: a loaf of bread, показывает картинку №7 из упражнения 1)
“And this? Crisps! Can we say ‘one crisp’? Well… yes, but usually we buy them in packets. So: ‘a packet of crisps’. And water? ‘A bottle of water’. Got it?”
2. Look, Read and Number — 10 мин
“Open your books to page 107. Look at the pictures 1 to 10. Don’t write anything yet — just look! Picture 1: what do you see? Shelves with... crisps! Good. Picture 2: cheese on a plate. Picture 3: someone drinking from a can — maybe lemonade? Picture 7: bread on a table — that’s a loaf!”
“Now read the sentences a to j quietly. Underline words you don’t know. Any questions? ‘Lemonade’ — этолимонад. ‘Crisps’ — чипсы. ‘Loaf’ —буханка. ‘Packet’ — пачка. ‘Piece’ —кусок.”
“Work in pairs. Match the sentences with the pictures. Write the number in the box. You have 3 minutes. Go!”
*“Time’s up! Now let’s listen and check. Put your pencils down. Listen carefully.”
(Включает CD 4, трек 18)
“Sentence a: ‘Let’s get some cheese.’ Which picture? Picture 2 — yes! Because they’re pointing at cheese. Sentence b: ‘There’s some water in that glass.’ Picture 10 — correct! Sentence c: ‘We must get some bread.’ Picture 5 — they’re looking at bread in the shop window. Good job!”
3. Grammar Focus— 10 мин
“Now look at the orange box — ‘Grammar focus’. These are important phrases for talking about food. Let’s read them together.”
“Here’s a loaf of bread. Let’s buy a big loaf of bread or maybe two loaves.”
“Wait — why ‘two loaves’, not ‘two loafs’? Because ‘loaf’ becomes ‘loaves’ in plural — like ‘leaf → leaves’, ‘knife → knives’. Write it down: loaf → loaves.”
“Next: ‘Let’s buy some tomatoes. A can of tomatoes, please.’ See? Tomatoes are countable — so we can say ‘some tomatoes’. But if they’re in a can — we say ‘a can of tomatoes’. Same with milk: ‘a bottle of milk’. Cheese: ‘a piece of cheese’ — because we cut it!”
“Listen again and repeat after the recording. Pay attention to pronunciation: ‘loaf’ [ləʊf], ‘loaves’ [ləʊvz].”
(Включает CD 4, трек 19. Дети повторяют за диктором. Затем чтение вслух.)
“Let’s make a quick chart on the board:”
Неисчисляемые | Мера измерения | Пример |
bread | a loaf of | a loaf of bread |
cheese | a piece of | a piece of cheese |
water | a bottle of | a bottle of water |
lemonade | a can of | a can of lemonade |
crisps | a packet of | a packet of crisps |
“Remember: never say ‘one bread’ or ‘two cheeses’ — always use the measure word!”
4. Practice — Игра “The Shopping List” (5 мин)
“Let’s play a game! I’ll say a product — you shout the correct phrase. Ready?”
“Water!” → “A bottle of water!”
“Cheese!” → “A piece of cheese!”
“Bread!” → “A loaf of bread!”
“Crisps!” → “A packet of crisps!”
“Milk!” → “A bottle of milk!”
“Tomatoes!” → “Some tomatoes!” или “A can of tomatoes!” — обавариантаверны!
(Если ошибаются — мягко исправляю: “Almost!Remember — tomatoes are countable, so ‘some tomatoes’ is OK. But if they’re in a tin — ‘a can of tomatoes’.”)
5. Production — Organise a Picnic — 10 мин
“Now, work in groups of 3 or 4. Imagine you’re going on a picnic. Make a shopping list using our new phrases. Use at least 5 items. Start with: ‘Let’s get...’, ‘We need...’, ‘I can bring...’”
(Примернадоске:)
Student A: “Let’s get some crisps.”
Student B: “OK, I can bring three packets.”
Student C: “We need a bottle of lemonade and two loaves of bread.”
“You have 5 minutes. Then each group will present their list to the class.”
“Time’s up! Group 1, please stand up and tell us your plan.”
6. Homework (5 мин)
“Great job today! Let’s review: What do we say for bread? ‘A loaf of bread.’ For cheese? ‘A piece of cheese.’ For water? ‘A bottle of water.’ Perfect!”
“Homework: Write a breakfast list for tomorrow morning. Use 5 different quantifiers. Example: ‘a glass of milk, a slice of bread, a spoon of honey...’ Also, learn the plural: loaf → loaves. Test yourself!”
“Any questions before we finish? No? Wonderful! Pack your bags, and have a lovely day! ”
