ACT 1
(In the castle- Prologue)
Storyteller:-Once upon a time The king Stefan lived. He longed for a child of his own. At last the Princess Aurora was born. The king invited three good fairies to bless his little daughter.
(soundtrack- “The Gifts of Beauty)
( 3 good fairies appear in front of the king, music is “Gifts”)
Fauna:- (making a curtsy)-Your Majesty! (she’s coming to the baby)
Each of us, the child, may bless
With a single gift-
No more, no less!(waving the wand)
Tiny Princess, you’ll have sweet voice!
Flora:- (making a curtsy)-Your Majesty! (she’s coming to the baby)
Sweet Princess, you’ll be beautiful!
Merryweather:- (making a curtsy)-Your Majesty! (she’s coming to the baby)
Little Princess, my gift shall be…..
(The evil Witch appears, soundtrack- “Maleficent Appears”)
Witch:- I’m distressed! I haven’t got invitation !
Merryweather:-You weren’t wanted!
Witch:- What an awkward situation!
King:- Are you not offended, Your Excellency?
Witch:- I’ll too bestow the gift to the child. Listen well, all of you!.The Princess will indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her, but before the sun sets on her 16th birthday, she’ll prick her finger on the spindle and die!
King:- oh,no! Seise that creature!
Witch:- Stand back, you fools!(she’s going away)
Merry:-Don’t despair, Your Majesty!
Maleficent’s power is great, but I can help. She’ll not die, but sleep.(she’s coming to the baby and wave her wand):-
Not in death but just in sleep
The fateful prophecy you’ll keep.
And from this slumber you shall wake
When true love’s kiss
The spell will break!
Storyteller:- But king Stefan, still fearful of his daughter’s life, did then and there decree to burn all spindles in the kingdom.
King:-Every spindle in the kingdom should be burned!
(3 fairies are discussing the situation)
Fl:-I’d like to turn Maleficent into the frog.
FA:-That isn’t a very good idea.
Mer:- there must be some way…
Fl:- I’m going to turn Aurora into the flower.
Fa:- Until she send frost Maleficent knows everything…
Fl:- She doesn’t know anything about love or kindness. I know the way!
Just imagine the wooden cottage and three peasant women raising the child deep in the forest…
Mer:- It’s very nice. We’ll feed her and wash her. And no magic!
Fa:_ We must tell the Majesty about our plan at once!
(They are whispering sth to the king)
Storyteller:-And King with heavy heart watched how hIs only possession, his only child disappeared into the night.
(soundtrack –“The Gifts”)
ACT 2
Storyteller:- Many long years passed. Good fairies carried out their well-laid plan and brought up a beautiful girl. They called her Rose. At last the 16th birthday has come.
(The witch is appearing- soundtrack –“Maleficent’s Frustration”)
Witch:-It’s incredible! 16 years passed and there is no one trace of the princess. I’ll search all the mountains, forests and towns for a girl of 16 with hair of gold and lips red as a rose.
(SHE’s going out)
Storryt:- The good fairies prepared a party and something extra-special for a surprise.
(good fairies and the Princess are appearing
Fauna:- Take a basket and Pick berries, my dear.
Princess:- But we picked berries yesterday.
Flora:-We need more.
Fauna:_ And don’t hurry back, dear.
Merry:-And don’t speak to strangers.
Flora:- Good bye, dear.
Fauna:- I’m going to make a lovely dress fit to the princess.
Flora:- I’m going to bake a birthday cake.
Merry:- I think she will be really surprised and pleased!
(The princess is in the forest. She’s gathering the flowers and listening to the birds)- music-“A Cottage in the Woods”)
Princess:- Flora and Fauna treat me like a child. THey don’t want me to meet anyone. Do you know something? I fooled them. I met someone. A prince. He’s tall and handsome and so romantic. Oh, we walk together and talk together. And just before we say good-bye, he takes me in his arms and then… I wake up! Yes, it’s only in my dreams. But they say if you dream of something, it’s sure to come true. And I’ve seen him so many times!
(she’s dancing and singing “I know you”)
(suddenly The Prince appears)
The Prince:Sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you.
The Princess:- You are the stranger(she’s about to go)
The Prince:_ Don’t you remember? We’ve met before!
Princess:-We have?
Prince:- Of course. You said it by yourself.
Princess:_When?
Prince:_Once upon a dream.
(they are singing and dancing “I know you” together )
Prince:-Who are you?
Princess:-My name…I can’t -good bye! (she wants to go)
Prince:-When will I see you again?
Princess:- Never!
Prince:-Never?
Princess:- Well, May be sometimes…
Prince:-When? Tomorrow?
Princess:- No, this evening…
Prince:- Where?
Princess:- In the cottage in the forest…
Act 3
(The three good fairies are waiting for the Princess )
Flora and Fauna:- Surprise! surprise! (They are giving the cake with candles)
Princess:-It’s the happiest day in my life! (she’s dancing) Everything’s so wonderful. Just wait till you meet him.
Merryweather:-Rose, you met some stranger?
Princess:- He’s not the stranger. We’ve met before.
Fauna:- Where?
Princess:- Once upon a dream.(she’s singing).
Flora:-She’s in love!
Fauna:- Oh, no! This is terrible!
Princess:-Why? After all I’m 16!
Fauna:_ But you must merry the Prince Philip!
Princess:- How could I marry the Prince?
Flora:- You are the Princess Aurora!
Fauna:- Tonight we are taking you to your father King Stefan!
Princess:- But I can’t. I promised to meet him tonight
Fauna:- I’m so sorry, my child, but you must never see that young man again.
Princess:- Oh, no. I can’t believe it!(she cries and goes out)
(The Prince comes in)
Prince:- I met a beautiful girl and I’m going to marry. I don’t know who she was, but she was so pleasant. I marry the girl I love!
Act 5- in the Castle.
(Good fairies and the Princess are going to the Palace, then they curtain the window and raise their wands)- Aurora’s Return)
Merryweather:- This is one last gift for you
The symbol of royalty,
A crown to wear
In grace and beauty
As this is right
And Royal duty.
(they put the Crown on her head)
(The Princess is crying)
Fauna:- Let her have a few moments alone. (They go out)
Storyteller:- The Princess Aurora started exploring the castle. She saw the small, mysterious room and came in.
(The princess sees the spindle on the table)
Princess:- What’s this? (she touches it and falls asleep)
The witch comes in. The fairies follow her.-Maleficent’s Frustration)
Witch:- You, poor little fools,
How could you cheat me?
Me, the Mistress of the evil!
Here is your precious Princess!
(she points at the lying girl and goes out)
Fauna:-I’ll never forgive myself.
Flora:- We’re all to blame.
Fauna:-Poor king Stefan! His heart will be broken when he finds out
Merry:- He won’t know about it. We’ll put them into sleep until Rose awakens!
(The fairies put everybody into sleep)
Fauna:-We must call the Prince! May be he will help us!
Flora:- I hope he will triumph the evil!(They take the Prince to the sleeping Princess)
Prince:- I would give the whole kingdom to save the Princess!
(he turns to the Princess and kisses her(or her hand)
(music sounds-
Princess:- How long I have slept!(she turns to the Prince)
Prince:- Dear Princess! I love you! Will you marry me?
(The fairies are awakening the king)
King:- Be happy!
Fauna:- Be happy!
Merry:- Oh, I love happy endings!
The king and the fairies are dancing the waltz
The Prince and Princess are singing together “I know you”
I know you
I walked with you
Once upon a dream
I know you
The gleam in your eyes
IS SO FAMILIAR a gleam
And I know you it’s true
That visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you
I know what you’ll do
You’ll love me at once
The way you did
Once upon a dream
