Цель урока: Развитие навыков неподготовленной речи по теме «Health».
Задачи урока:
Образовательный аспект: повторение и закрепление активной лексики уроков 15-16-го цикла, формирование навыков аудирования, просмотрового чтения, говорения.
Развивающий аспект: развитие интеллектуальных способностей учащихся. (логического мышления, способности к логическому изложению, к формулированию выводов).
Воспитательный аспект: привитие интереса к здоровому образу жизни.
Оснащение урока: карточки с текстами, магнитофон, таблицы на доске, мультимедиа проектор.

2. T.: Today we are going to speak about health and problems with health.
There can be no doubt that heath is very important for any person. There are many proverbs about health.
Look at the screen. Let’s read the proverbs all together after me.
And now I shall read the statement and you choose the proverb to illustrate it.
T: If you want to keep fit you should go to bed early or you will be sleepy in the morning.
P1: Early to bed and early to rise make a man healthy wealthy and wise.
T: Fresh fruit and vegetables are full of vitamins and are very useful for our health.
P2: An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
T: To be healthy is more important than to be rich. You can’t buy health.
P3: Health is above wealth.
T: Those people who don’t worry about small things, who are cheerful hardly ever fall ill.
P4: A merry heart is a good medicine.
3. T: Many people try to keep fit. What should you do and what shouldn’t you do to be healthy?
P1: You should do your morning exercises to kip fit.
P2: You shouldn’t smoke if you want to be healthy…

And now who can make a conclusion?

Example: Fresh air is very important to good health. Besides, every room in the house, especially bedroom should be properly cleaned. The whole body should be washed regularly. Some exercises are also necessary to keep us fit. The old and the young should do morning exercises. Rest is also important to the health of both body and mind. We should eat fruit and vegetables. I suppose that it is necessary to go to bed till 11 o'clock and get up at 7 o'clock.
But we must not eat a lot; we shouldn’t eat much sugar or sweets. We shouldn’t smoke or drink alcohol. We shouldn’t go to bed late.
4.T:Thank you. So, we see that there are certain laws of keeping health.If one of these rules is broken we may fall ill. Let’s sing a song “If I have a sore throat”. (См.приложение 1)
Well, answer my questions, please.
1). What can people suffer from?
P1: People can suffer from toothache. (Headache, stomachache, earache, backache, bad cold).
2). What can people be ill with?
P2: People can be ill with flu. (quinsy)
3). How does a person feel when he has flu? (a bad cold, quinsy, a toothache, a stomachache.)
P5: When a person has flu he feels bad. He coughs and sneezes. He runs high temperature. He has a headache. He has pain in his chest.…
T: Now look at the screen and say what has happened to these people.
P1: He has broken his leg.
P2: He has a headache. …
T: Well, when we fall ill we go to the doctor. Look at the pictures and say what the doctor is doing.
P1: The doctor is listening to the man’s lungs and chest.
P2: The doctor is examining the patient’s throat. ….
5. T:So, when we have a headache, a stomachache, a sore throat, a cold or pain in some other parts of my body, we go to a doctor.
Let’s listen to the text and find out what happened to a patient who came to the doctor one day.

7. T: Now look at the table. These people have problems with health. Say what the matter with them is and what they should or shouldn’t do:
P4: If you have a sore throat and it hurts you to swallow you may have quinsy. Then you should call a doctor. (См.приложение 4)
T: Well, that’s good.
It’s not very pleasant to be ill. Read this dialogue and say how Pete feels. Choose the best answer: (См.приложение 5)
T: So, What’s the matter with Pete?
P1: Pete has a bad cold. He sneezes and coughs. He has a headache. He runs high temperature. He has a sore throat.
P2: It hurts him to swallow.
8.T:Well, and now you’ll be patients and doctors. You’ll get different tasks and 2-3 minutes to get ready. After that we’ll listen to you and check how well you’ve done it.

Once an old gentleman went to see a doctor. The doctor examined him, listened to his lungs and heart, felt his pulse and blood pressure, took his temperature and said that medicine wouldn't help the old gentleman. The doctor asked him to go to a quiet country place for a month and to have a rest. "Your illness is not serious, so don't worry!" continued the doctor. "Go to bed early, drink milk, walk a lot, smoke just one cigar a day and you will recover pretty soon."
The old gentleman nodded and said: "Thank you very much, Doctor. Ishall do everything you say."
A month later the same gentleman came to see the doctor again.
"How do you do?" said the doctor. "Iam very glad to see you. You look much younger. How do you feel?"
"Oh. Doctor," said the gentleman, "Ifeel quite all right now. Ihad a good rest. I went to bed early, I drank a lot of milk; I walked a lot.
Your advice certainly helped me. But you told me to smoke one cigar a day, and that one cigar a day almost killed me at first. It's not a joke to start smoking at my age.”
