Good afternoon children. Good afternoon dear guests. I am glad to see you! Today we meet in special session of our English club. And we are going to talk about one of the most interesting and exciting topic in our life about music, styles of music and your attitude toward this subject.

Could you tell me please, what music means for you?

Are there any volunteers?

TEACHER: Dima! Will you go to the blackboard and write it down?

2)music in my moral support because. I enjoy the warm support of music in difficult situations.

3)music is my grief, because when I am upset and distressed that is music which help me go through any difficult situations

TEACHER:Mary! Will you go to the blackboard and write it down?

4)music is my mood, because when I am sad, it is music which help me.

5)music is my feelings, because different music arouses in my heart different feelings

6)Music is my love , because listening it I imagine my parents, friends and my sweetheart.

TEACHER: I see that music plays an important role in your life. Music is so various. As the matter of fact there are many different styles of music. And now I suggest you to listen to some pieces of music and guess what style it is.

1)Rap

I am sure that it is rap because the singer speaks or shout the words .

2) POP.

I quite agree that it is pop music because the melody is simple and torchy

And the meaning is not complicated.

3) Classical music

It seems to me that it is classical music because it is tuneful and melancholy,

Appealing and sensational.

4) Jazz

I think it is jazz because such style is based on variations. And one of the elements of this music is improvisation.

5) Rock

To my opinion it is rock because it has a strong, loud beat and it is played on electrical instruments.

6)Country

I think it is country because it is a cowboy song.

Blues

I suppose it is blues, because the melody is melоdic and soft.

So, we’ve found out 7 styles of music at the least. Let’s name them.

PUPIL: rap, pop, classical, jazz, rock, country and blues.

TEACHER: At this meeting we can’t cover all types of music. That’s why we examine only 2 styles. They are rap and pop.

I want you to take place according to your musical tastes.

I invite the fans of the rap musical style to take places at this table.

I invite the fans of the pop musical style to take places at this table.

So you are divided into 2 groups the fans of the rap music and the fans of the pop music.

No doubt all people like music but prefer only one style.

As the matter of fact even in the same family the heated arguments may appear.

Now I bring to your attention such situation.

Mum: What is it? You don’t give me a moment of peace! There is neither point nor meaning in your music.

Son: This music is in fashion, and I want it sounds loudly!

Mum: But what is the meaning of it? The melody is the same. At my time the music was different. Songs made sense. Just listen it.

(слушают, мама подходит и выключает)

Son: Juck ! It is trash! I can’t hear it!

Mum: Oh, no!

(мама хватается за голову и уходит, сын снова включает музыку)

TEACHER: Could you tell me why such argument has happened?

БУКАРЕВ: This argument has happened, because some people like soft and tuneful music, others like emotional and live music.

TEACHER: And what style of music is better than others?

Just now try to solve it. The floor is given to the fans of pop music styles.

(ПРЕЗЕНТАЦИЯ)

ПЕЧАК: There are a great number of various pop stars in the world. But we want to represent The Beatles because this group considered being the founders of modern pop music. This group was formed at the end of 50^th, 20 century. The members of this group were amazing and talented boys who made a revolution in pop history.

Liverpool is a hometown of the BEATLES. They were all born in Liverpool.

ГОРБАЧЕВА:John Lennon is considered to be the organizer and the leader of the ensemble. One day John had the idea to organize a band. The group was formed and boys began playing at home and school parties. Before settling THE BEATLES group went through the progression of names. Johnny and the Moondogs", "Long John and the Beatles", "the silver Beetles”.

СУПОНЕВ: Paul McCartney joined Lennon’s group. The two began to compose songs together and it was those songs that threw the people’s attention to them.

The third member of the group was Ringo Star and the fourth was George Harrison he played the guitar there.

John and Paul were the main songs writers in the group. The BEATLES changed the pop music forever. Their songs seemed more musical than others and more exciting than the kind of thing most artists were recording then.

In 1966 Lennon met Japanese artist Yoko Ono. She was clever and eccentric. Lennon wanted to do on his own or with Yoko and decided to leave the group.

ВАРЛАШКИН: You see the information about the history of the BEATLES was interesting but it can’t prove us why so many people all over the world liked their songs so much.

СУПОНЕВ: But we haven’t finished our representation of pop style yet!

ПЕЧАК: We want you to listen one of the Beatles songs. We have a group in our school. They like and often sing their songs. We invite them here.

TEACHER: That was great! Thank you boys! Children! Where is your applause? Do you understand what this song is about?

TEACHER: YOU are the fan of rap style of music. Do you like this song?

ГЕВОРКЯН: Yes, of course! I think all of us now are convinced that you are right and this music is worth listening to.

TEACHER: It’s time to listen to the fans of Rap music. You’re welcome.

КОЛЕСНИКОВ: To prove that our music is cool and torchy we call to your attention rap composition played by the fans of rap music. Let’ greet them!

(RAP SONG)

АКСЕНЦЕВ: So what? Did you like it?

PUPILS: Wow!

That’s great!

That’s cool!

АКСЕНЦЕВ: What is this song about?

ГЕВОРКЯН:

АКСЕНЦЕВ: And rap music has its own history. Will you help me, boys? I want to tell you that rap is the most vigorous youth culture. It appeared since the decline of the hippie movement in the early 1970s. Rap music with its heavy emphasis on beat, rhythms and lyrics that were often based on realistic images of violent inner-city life survived, and like the first generation of rock and roll, it seized the attention and interest of young people.

РЯБОВ: Rap music is considered to appeared, when the rapper KOOL HERK switched on the microphone and became speaking while others were dancing at the party. Everybody liked it and then many DJ used such method.

БУКАРЕВ: You know in Russia it was DETSL who discover the new style of music to Russian people. He made a breakthrough in Russian show business in 1990s.

ВАРЛАШКИН: One of the three original components of the hip-hop movement was break-dancing. It consisted of highly rehearsed, acrobatic, stylized dancing.

БУКАРЕВ: The third component of hip-hop movement was graffiti.

TEACHER: Thank you boys. This information was very interesting.

TEACHER: Dear children! We’ve both the fans of rap style and the fans of pop style. So hat style of music is better? Today we’ve invited the musical expert. I hope she helps us to solve our argument. It’s time to turn to our musical expert. Meet OLGA VICTOROVNA

EXPERT: Having heard both the fans of pop music and the fans of rap music I conclude that any style of music including pop and rap has its own fans.We are different, and our tastes differ. But we should be more tolerant, every style has the chance to exist. I would remind you as the English proverb says: Tastes differ.

You should write a rap composition.

You should write a pop song. Choose any melody you like. Here are the cards with your task. I suppose 3 minutes will be enough for this task.
