St. Valentines Day

(сценариймероприятия)

Цели:-образовательная: совершенствование лингвострановедческой компе-

тенции обучающихся, повышение мотивации к изучению ин. яз.

- воспитательная: повышение у обучающихся уважительного отношения

друг к другу, воспитание культуры языкового общения.

- развивающая: развитие у обучающихся коммуникативных навыков и

реализация творческого потенциала, а также создание ситуации успеха

в ходе игры.

Оснащение:компьютер, интерактивная доска, презентация, «валентинки» для участников.

Ход мероприятия:

Т:Good day, dear boys and girls! Are you ready to start our party?

Love! Happiness! Beauty! There are not many days in a year when we pronounce these pleasant words. Today you have an opportunity to show your individuality, to take part in games and to practice in your English on this special occasion Happy St. Valentine’s Day!

It has been said that we need just three things in life:

Something to do,

Something to look forward to,

And somebody to love!

Some one to love

I hope that Valentine’s Day

We need friends everywhere!

Make new friends but keep the old,

When I say I love you,

It comes from my heart,

You hear it in your ear

And it sounds very smart.

I love it when you are proud of me

You say it all day long,

And when I hear you say it,

My heart sings merry song!

Here is “a valentine”

I made it just for you,

With paper and ribbons

And lots of Elmer’s glue!

I cut it with my scissors

And designed it with my paint

If I tell you that I love you,

Do you promise not to faint?

I met a little girl

Who came from another land,

I couldn’t speak her language

But I took her by the hand.

We danced together

And had such a fun.

A dancing language -

You can speak with everyone!

Let me call you – sweetheart,

I’m in love with you!

Let me hear your whisper,

That you love me too!

Keep a love light glowing

In your eyes so true,

Let me call you - sweetheart

I’m in love with you!

T:What kind of a holiday is St. Valentine’s Day? We offer you some facts of its history and origin. (6 учеников выходят на сцену и рассказывают об истории происхождения данного праздника. Их рассказы сопровождаются показом слайдов.)

No one really knows the actual origin of St. Valentine’s Day. Many historians think that it was held on the 14^th of February in honour of Fauns – the God of animal life, and the guardian of the secret lore of nature. After Christianity spread, some think that one of the pagan festivals became Valentine’s Day.

Other experts connect Valentine’s Day with two saints of the early Christian church. According to one story, St. Valentine was a priest who married young couples against the orders of the Roman Emperor Claudius II, who believed, that single young men made better soldiers. This story goes back about 200 A. D.

There also was another St. Valentine who was a good friend to children. As he didn’t worship the Gods, decreed by the Roman Emperor, he was put in prison. While he was in prison, children with whom he made friends missed him and brought him loving notes. Many of the notes expressed the thought that “absence, made the heart grow fonder”. He was executed on the 14^th of February. Some people think that is why we exchange friendly gifts and caring messages on this day.

One of the oldest customs told, that single women could learn their future husbands on that day. In England in the 17^th century women wrote men’s names on sheets of paper, rolled each in a ball of clay and dropped them into water. The first paper that surfaced supposedly had the name of the woman’s true lover.

Some people connected the celebrating of Valentine’s Day with an old English belief that birds choose their mates on February. That was possible, as spring was less than a month away. The calendar used before 1582 was different from the one we use now.

The customs of sending valentine cards started in Europe in the 1700s. Commercial valentines were first made in the early 1800s. Kate Greenaway, a British artist was one of the leading makes of valentines. Her valentines are known for her drawing of little children and the varied shades of blues and greens that she favored.

Nowadays St. Valentine’s Day is celebrated in many parts of the world. Today it is a holiday for both young and old. The symbol of love is Cupid the Roman God of love – a young boy with a bow and arrows.

2 minutes to write them correctly.

teams. They include some mistakes in their content. Try to correct all

mistakes as quickly as possible.

Task 8.T: Your home task was to prepare a sweet dance. Are all couples ready? Choose the card with the number. It will be the number of your team’s couple in the competition. (Команды тянут жребий, определяют очередность пар)

Task 9.T: We offer you two situations:

Ladies’ situation

gentlemen’s situation

You will have to explain how you will act in such situations.

-ladies’ situation:

One young man appears to be almost everywhere beside you. You don’t like it. It is getting to annoy you. What would you tell him?

-gentlemen’s situation:

You like one girl very much, but she doesn’t pay attention to you. How would you make her to notice you?

Task 10. T: We give you Valentine’s cards. Please, write your wishers to your sweethearts and put your valentines into our letter box. Tomorrow our postman will bring you the mail and declare the name of the winner – the person who will get the most number of valentines.

T: It’s a pity, but our time is over. Thank you for participation and for your attention.
