1 The world is our home and we want to see it clean and beautiful. At the same time we take from nature as mush as we can. We cut down forests and build farms, houses, roads and factories on the land. While doing it we pollute the environment..

The main reason of pollution is rubbish. The disposal of rubbish has been a social and environmental problem for thousands of years. The first landfill site in history was opened by the Ancient Greeks in about 2500 BC. So they dug a big hole several kilometres outside town, where all the rubbish was thrown.

2 And we still generally use the same solution today. Most our rubbish go to big holes in the ground, called ‘dumps. But dumps are very dangerous for our life because they are full of rats, which can carry infections away from dumps.

3 Another way to get rid of rubbish is to burn it. But the fires make poisons, which go into the air and pollute it.

4 I think that the most dangerous rubbish is plastiс, though plastic is a little part of all rubbish. But plastic, for example, takes about 450 years todegrade. That's also bad for the environment.

5 Since most plastic bottles find their way in landfills, they will just end up buried beneath the ground. The soil may be contaminated over time with these toxic substances. If the soil is affected, plants cannot grow easily. Groundwater may also be contaminated if the toxic chemicals sink deeper into the ground.

6 Many people think that the biggest source of pollution in the oceans is litter that starts out on land.

One study found that 97.5% of chicks had plastic in their stomachs.

This problem is important for cities, for oceans, for towns and for rivers. For all our planet.

7 In our town we can see plastic bottles everywhere. In summer pupils find out a lot of bottles in the schoolyard, on the playground. That is why I decided to learn more about this problem.

So, the aim of my work is to learn more about the solution of this problem in different countries, to find out ways, which can help us, to study the situation in our town, in our region, in our school. I believe this information will help us in our everyday life and can be used at the lessons of Ecology.

8Although the first bottled soda water in America was created in 1835, plastic bottles for soft drinks weren’t in use until 1970.

9 In 1974 the first Pepsi Cola plant was opened in Novorossiysk in Russia and the first plastiс bottle appeared in our country.

So plastic bottles were invented. But nobody thought about future…

What could we do with empty bottles?

1.5 million tons of plastic are used to bottle water every year.

28 000 000 000 bottles are used in year of which 85% that end up as a garbage. That's also bad for the environment.

How can we solve this problem?

10 We can help solve the problem by remembering the 3 Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle.

Reduce the amount of plastic bottles

Reuse plastic bottles

2) Recycle plastic bottles

11 In our country there is only plant where we can recycle plastic bottles. In 2007 it was opened in the city of Solnechnogorsk in the Moscow Region.

12 They collect plastic bottles, then make granules from bottles and make different useful things from granules.

13 Unfortunately, not all bottles are fit for recycling. Red bottles, for example, are too thick. Bottles which contained household chemicals, vegetable oil, can’t be recycled at the plant.

14 We can give the second life for plastic bottles. So it is necessary to think before you trash the bottle.

I try to learn experiments of different countries.

15Artists in Rio di Janeiro turned the plastic bottles into sustainable art when they created giant fish. They used bottles which were thrown away. They were created in honor of the  Conference which was hosted in the city. This conference was devoted to environmental problems.

16 ThePlastiki is a ship made from plastic bottles. They used 18000 plastic bottles. It was built in order to promote recycling. Today, it docked in Sydney.

17 This island is from bottlesinMexico. They used 100 000 bottles to build the island. Here you can see a house, 2 ponds and plants.

18In the russian village of Kamarchaga, in the siberian taiga, russian pensioner Olga Kostina has used 30,000 plastic bottle caps to adorn her home.

19 We can decorate gardens, yards, playgrounds using bottles.

20 It's no secret that when you're surrounded by beautiful things, you feel more cheerful.

21 We can make useful and beautiful things

22 In our town people also give bottles the second life. They often use empty bottles to decorate their gardens, yards, make fences, feeders for birds, different flowers, trees. Social survey showed

7 % throw away empty bottles. These bottles are a part of the worlds rubbish. So they pollute the environment.

A few pupils give plastic bottles the second life.

That is whymy report is very actual because rubbish is everywhere in our town, on our planet. We have to think about this ecological problem if we want to survive. We need to change our habits today.

We all must work together to make our planet a safe and beautiful place to live. Every person must be responsible for protecting nature. Let’s start!

I believe that we must start by reducing the amount of plastic we use, and recycling what we do use. We’ll give the second life every empty plastic bottle.

In my opinion, all people must do everything to protect our nature and to save life on the Earth.
