Приложение.
People all over the world like drinking tea. It is said that drinking tea began in China over 5000 years ago. Leaves from the plant accidentally fell into water being boiled for drinking. Needless to say, it was found to be very refreshing and it's use became widespread. The Chinese tea ceremony is the most ancient ceremony and plays central role in Chinese culture. The tea is the heart of ceremony. This ceremony reflects the search for beauty in every object of the world. It must be conducted in a peacefull atmosphere and induce a sense of tranquility and harmony among the participants.
In Japan tea was brought from China in the 6thcentury B.C. Every detail of Japanese tea ceremony demands strict attention. The tea room is considered to be an island of tranquility and purity, allowing, the guests to leave the outside world behind and relax.
In the 17thcentury the Chinese Emperor presented the Russian Czar with a gift of tea. Thus, tea became an acceptable drink in Russia about 100 years before arriving in the European countries. The Russians drink black tea. Russia was so strongly associated with black tea that during the 19 th century certain types of black tea were called "Russian tea-, despite the fact that the tea was actually produced in China. Tea culture is at integral part of Russian Culture and is referred to in works of and literature. The samovar.. a metal container for heating water, can be found in almost every home is part of the Russian cultural icons. The Russians tend to prepare a strong, bitter concentrate of black tea which is kept in a small teapot next to the samovar. The concentrate is diluted with boiling water to prepare tea according to the drinker's preferred strength.
Tea was introduced to Europe through the Portugal in the early 1500's. It didn't take -long for this beverage to become popular in many countries and traditions for English tea parties were formed.
At this time Great Britain founded the East India Company for the trade of rare commodities from theOrient. The introduction of tea in England took place in a specific way: the coffee houses were at the time very fashionable. They were spreading rapidly and were very successful. During the same period Catherine of Bragance. a Portuguese princess and wife of the young king of England, brought as a dowry Bombay and the custom of drinking tea at anytime of the dayl
From then on, tea became a real craze all over the country. Having been taken up by the royal court, it was just a question of time before tea won over all levels of society and quickly became a huge popular success. Before the English enjoyed only 2 meals — a breakfast and a dinner. The dinner was served at the end of the day and by mid afternoon you can imagine how hungry they were. In the 19th century the seventh Duchess of Bedford made a habit of taking tea in the afternoon between three and four o'clock together with a light meal. She began inviting her friends to join her and thus started a fashion.
Today tea is a pillar of British society and the English drink it throughout the day: starting with an "early morning tea" often taken in bed with some plain biscuits, followed by the breakfast tea that washes down the large meal of that name, then comes "elevenses" at 11 o'clock, which will sustain them until it is time for the traditional "afternoon tea" or "Five-o-clock Tea". Finally, a last tea is often taken in the evening just before bedtime.
"Afternoon tea" in Great Britain is a real tradition. The afternoon tea was served along, with a light meal between the hours 3:00-5:00 p
«High tea» - a further development and refinement of the afternoon tea. One assumption is it that the name was derived from the late hour in which the meal was taken: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Another suggestion is that the expression "high tea" originated from the custom of having this meal on high tables, in comparison with the afternoon tea which was eaten on low tables.
The main secret of the English tea ceremony is hidden in it, of course. It is a very simple secret, though. Thus. Tea is brewed proceeding from the assumption that when in cups it will not be mixed with water anymore. That is one teaspoon tea per person. Everyone knows that the Englishliketea with milk. If you want todrink tea with milk like Englishmen, first of all youshould pour milk in the cup, than add tea.
The British are among the world's most massive tea consumers. Perhaps it is possible to understand the importance of tea in British culture if we recall Sir Winston Churchill's declaration during the Second World War that: "Tea is more important to the soldiers than munitions".
The English say: "If you are hot, tea will cool you off, and if you are cold, it will warm you up. If you take it in the middle of the morning it will stimulate you for further work; if you drink it in the afternoon, it will relax you for further thought.”
