How did I determine the breed of my dog

Introduction.

My mom bought a puppy. She thought that the puppy would grow up to be a quiet, affectionate dog.The puppy grew up quickly, gnawed things, barked loudly, rushed at the dogs. I decided to find out what breed this dog is and how to treat it

Why do you need to know the breed of your dog? Knowing the breed of a dog is important, partly just because it's interesting to know, and partly because it can help you find out what health or behavior problems you should pay attention to. Understanding a dog's breed can also help you determine if a dog will fit your lifestyle well.

Some dogs were created with specific tasks in mind, such as helping hunters, guarding houses, grazing livestock or ridding houses and barns of rodents. Other dogs are simply created to be companions. Some breeds also require more exercise than others. That's why you need to know the breed of your dog.

I found out from the photos that my dog's breed is a Patterdale Terrier.

My hypothesis. I assumed that the breed of my dog is a Patterdale Terrier.

The goal of my project is to more accurately determine the breed of my dog. To achieve the goal, I had to complete the following tasks.

I needed to: 1) find and study the standard and detailed descriptions of the Patterdale Terrier breed; 2) study the appearance and behavior of our dog in accordance with the standard and description; 3) compare the results, draw conclusions about the breed of our dog; 4) study the recommendations for the maintenance of dogs of this breed.

The object of my research is dog breeds.

The subject of the study is the breed of our dog.

Research methods were used in the work: work with literature, Internet resources, observation, analysis, measurement methods, comparison, generalization.

The novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time in college, a project was carried out in English to study the breed of a dog.

Practical significance. The material of this work can be used in English lessons when studying topics: "Leisure", "Hobby", "Pets". This material may be useful for students who have dogs of the Patterdale Terrier breed.

The main part of the project

At first I was looking for my dog's breed from pictures on the Internet. I found out from the photos that my dog's breed is a Patterdale Terrier. Then I read that the breed of the dog is determined by standards. I started looking for the Patterdale Terrier breed standard. There were 2 of them.

There are two breed standards for the Patterdale Terrier belonging to the United Kennel Club (UKC) and the American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), both in the United States, since the United Kingdom Kennel Club does not recognize the Patterdale Terrier.

Then I compared the characteristics of my dog with the official UKC Patterdale Terrier breed standard in the table.(таблица имеется в подлиннике).

I compared the characteristics of our dog with the standard and made sure that it is of its own breed – the Patterdale Terrier.

Conclusion. The Patterdale Terrier is known more as a working terrier than as a show dog. Their breed requires high energy and a strong desire to chase prey. Patterdale are very energetic, and it can be difficult to communicate with them. Although they are also keep as pets, but due to the fact that this breed is bred for high-intensity work, they may be too energetic for a sedentary home life [7].

My tips for owners of Patterdale terrier [6].

1.Patterdale terriers are fiesty and energetic dogs for sure. They have a great deal of energy and need a lot of attention and walks. If they don’t get enough intellectual stimulation and exercise then their behaviour can become destructive or aggressive.

2. It will be difficult for you to keep your Patterdale on a leash if there are other dogs, cats, chickens, pigeons nearby.

3. Patterdale terriers are very high energy dogs. They need a great deal of exercise both on and off lead. If you don’t exercise your patterdale terrier then his energy may turn negative and your dog could express it through destruction or barking and nipping or aggression.

4. A Patterdale will need at least two 30 minute walks daily and also this should be combined with extended walks on weekends and holidays. Patterdale terriers enjoy fields and countryside terrain.

5. Паттердейл   are very attached to their humans and often suffer from separation anxiety. Most patterdales are very loving and affectionate toward their owner.
