Teacher:Good afternoon pupils. I’m really glad to see you. How are you? Where is Rita?

Pupils:We don’t know.

Rita goes into the classroom: I’m sorry, I’m late. May I sit down?

Teacher:Why are you late?

Rita: I’ve found a mobile phone and I’ve been looking for a person who has lost it.

Teacher:Oh, it’s my mobile phone. Thanks a lot for finding it.

Pupils:We’re glad that you’ve got your mobile phone but do you really need it during our lesson.

Teacher:Of course, I don’t. But I really need my mobile phone for different purposes. And what do you need your mobile phones for?

Pupils:(one by one) I need it for calling

I need it for texting

I need it for taking photos

I need it for watching videos

I need it for finding information on the Internet

I need it for playing games

I need it for listening to music

Is it a useful thing or just a thing to entertain?

Do you think mobile phones were a good invention?

Are there any places where you think mobiles should be banned?

Do you think you have an addiction to mobile phones?

Do you use your mobile during school?

How often do you use your mobile?

How many hours a day do you use your mobile phone?

What do you mostly use your mobile for?

Look at the short text on the screen. (Слайд № )

Text:

My mobile phone has a distinct place in my life. Every morning I take my keys and my phone. When I forget it at home I’m nervous. I feel like I’m out of world, disconnected, vulnerable, but very peaceful. With my mobile phone I’m always between love and hate. I hate it when it rings all the time and I miss it when it’s broken.

Read it aloud.

Answer the questions:

What place does a mobile have in the boy’s life?

What does he take every morning?

How does John feel when he doesn’t have a mobile?

Учащиесяслушаютдиалог.

Take your Worksheets B.

Учащиеся обмениваются карточками и кратко высказываются о своих одноклассниках.

T.Now look at the share chart on the screen. People all over the world took part in this opinion poll. They were asked to name three reasons they use their phones for. Look at this chart and suggest what their answers were. (Слайд № )

Учащиеся изучают диаграмму и делают свои догадки.

VI. Говорение (диалог)

T. Let’s have a look at the share chart again. As you remember the most popular reason for using mobile phones is making calls.

Answer the questions?

- How often do you call your friends?

- What do you usually call them for?

Учащиеся отвечают на вопросы учителя.

Group work

T.Now I want you to make two different dialogues. You have two different situations for making your telephone conversations. You have to put the cards on your tables in the right order to complete your dialogues. You’ll have about two minutes. Come to the blackboard and put the dialogues on the blackboard.

Учащиеся читают задание на своих карточках и расставляют фразы диалога в правильном порядке.

Situation #1

You have been ill for a week. Now you are phoning your classmate to find out the homework for your next English lesson.

Situation #2

You have two tickets to the cinema. Now you are phoning your friend to invite her to go with you.

Of course. We should read the text about British Media and do a grammar exercise in our Activity Books.”

Thank you. Bye-Bye.”

Bye-Bye.”

Dialogue 2

Hello”

Hi, … .It’s … . How are you?”

Fine thanks. Listen I have two tickets to the cinema. I just wanted to know if you go with me on Friday evening.”

I’m not sure. My mum wants me to stay at home on Friday.”

Oh, it’s a pity. I hope she will let you go if you speak with her.”

May be, I’ll text you later.”

Ok, bye.”

Bye.”

Учащиеся зачитывают диалог со своих мест.

VII.Динамическаяпауза

Nowadays it’s really very difficult not to use a mobile phone. I want you to watch a short video and then I’d like to listen to your opinion concerning mobile phones.

Учащиеся смотрят рекламный ролик.

T.Didyoulikeit? Is it really time to save us from our mobile phones?

And now let’s listen to the dialogues.

Do you often call your classmates to learn about your homework?

Would you like to invite … to go to cinema with you on Friday evening?

VIII.Чтение

T.Look at our share chart again. The second most popular reason is texting messages. It’s interesting to know that some teachers are really worried that texting will make young people poor of spelling and grammar.

Take your Worksheets C.

Now you are going to read the text about possible negative effects of texting messages.

Pre- reading

Spelling- the proper way to write a word

Significant-very important

Unfamiliar - not well-known

Reading

Учащиесячитаюттекст.

Lately, some people have been concerned that the amazing popularity of text messaging among young people is having a negative effect on their spelling and grammar skills. However, a recent study at City University in London compared the spelling and punctuation of 12 and 13-year old texters and non-texters, finding no significant differences between the two groups. It is important when text message is fast and short. This is to save on time and space. A reader who is unfamilar with texting will feel lost when they see abbreviations and special code words. For texters, this ‘language’ is easy to read and easy to write. The debate about the harmful effects of texting started a few years ago. Teachers began noticing examples of texting language in their students’ exam papers. One case, a 13-year-old Scottish girl who wrote an entire description of her summer holidays in text language, became famous. Her teacher sent a sample of the essay to a national newspaper and readers sent in hundreds of letters giving their opinion.

Post -reading

T.Look through the text again and circle the correct option.

Учащиесявыполняютпослетекстовыезадания.

Task 2.

Read the text again and circle the correct option.

1. Some people think that young people who don’t send / send a lot of text messages, write badly.

2. A recent study compared the spelling / exam resultsof children who text and children who don’t text.

3. The results of the text showed that there was hardly any / quite a big difference between the two groups.

4. Texters try to write their message in code / using very few words.

5. A Scottish girl / teacher sent some text to the newspaper.

T.Do you know anything about special code words British people use in their text messages? (Слайд № )

Some code words are easy to understand when you say them aloud.

What does this abbreviation stand for?

Учащиеся смотрят на экран и догадываются о значении текстовой аббревиатуры.

T.This is a part of an essay written by a Scottish 13-year-old girl. ReadthetextingandtranslateitintoEnglish

(Слайд № )

Учащиеся читают отрывок из письма шотландской девочки и «переводят» его на обычный английский.

IX.Письмо

T. Lately people all over the world have got used to go online using Mobile Internet. I know that young people are fond of making photos, exchanging them with their friends and writing comments.

Imagine that recently your friend has sent you this picture. (Слайд № ).

Do you know these people? I’m sure you’ll be eager to make your comments. Willyou?

Nowletsdivideintobig 2 group.

Учащиеся делятся на две равные группы.

You’ll have three minutes to prepare and write down your comments about this photo. You may use some special words and abbreviations. Choose the speaker who’ll read the story to everybody.

Take these sheets of paper and start to work.

Учащиеся записывают свои краткие рассказы, выбирают ответчика и выступают со своими историями у доски.

X. Подведение итогов урока. Домашнее задание.

T.So we have worked hard today. Coming to conclusion let’s remember the main points of our discussions.

I’ll give you the beginning of the statements and you should finish them. (Слайд № )

Finish these statements:

40% of people use their mobile phones to making calls.

2. Teenagers usually call their friends to invite smb and to ask homework.

3. British teachers are worried about spelling.

4. Teenagers like to use abbreviations in their text messages.

5. It is really time to save us from our mobile phones.

Учащиеся заканчивают высказывания учителя, подводя итоги урока.

T.For this lesson I give youг the following marks…

T.Your homework for the next lesson is to write an essay about advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones.

XI.Рефлексия.
