Цели урока:

Образовательная – ознакомление учащихся с историей Британии.

Teacher: Today we are talking about the history of the UK. I will tell you about some people and you will try to guess what they are.

Some people loved the God a lot they prayed all their life they did many good things. Some of them gave their life for the idea.

Pupils: They are heroes.They are brave people. They are strong people.

Teacher: Now look at the board and let us read and learn the words.

Teacher: Now we are listening to the text and you are to do task 1. You are to fill the blanks in the table. Look through the table. Are you ready to listen to the text?

Teacher: Let us begin listening.

The saints are people who remembered and celebrated for the things they have done. Each part of Great Britain has its own honoured saint.Each of the saints are remembered on a particular day. Such days are called feast days.

St.George is the patron saint of England and among the most famous of Christian figures. The banner of St.George is the red cross on the white background. There is a legend that St. George fought with the dragon. His major feast day is April 23.

In Ireland honoured saint is St. Patrick who brought Christianity to the nation. There is a legend that St. Patrick made all snakes leave the country. The national symbol of Ireland is shamrock. According to the legend St. Patrick chose this plant to illustrate the Holy Trinity to the Irish. Green is official colour of St. Patrick’s day. That why on this day people try to wear something green. Officially St. Patrick’s day is recognized as a bank holiday in Ireland. People do not work or study on this day. St. Patrick’s day is celebrated on March 17th

St. David is a patron saint of Wales. St. David’s day is on 1^st of March. There is a big parade in the capital of the country. Many people choose to remember him by wearing a small daffodil or something else yellow. St. David lived 160 years ago. He was a Christian and spent much of his life as a monk and build his own monestry.

Task 1

Teacher: Now we are listening to the text once again and you are to do Task2. There are some statements. Some of them are false. You need check and correct false statements. Look through the table. Are you ready?

Task 2

Teacher: Now let us to retell the text with the help of the questions from the table below. We will do it like a snowball. One pupil answers the question the next one repeats his answer and adds his own answer for the next question. Look through the table. Are you ready?
