«The most important thing in a job»

Aims of the lesson:

to discuss the most important factors for choosing a job through the work in groups and pairs.

Tasks:

1. To talk about the abilities people need to get a job;

2. To improve student’s communicative skills by expressing their opinions, interviewing each other, guessing the meaning of active vocabulary;

3. To develop student’s speaking, reading habits drawing conclusions and analyzing skills.

Waiting results:

Students prepare the stories about their future profession using the Second Conditional sentences.

1.Good morning dear students. How are you? Who is absent today? What is the day, date today?

Look at the blackboard (scheme 1st and 2 nd conditional) give some examples using conditionals.

EX 1 p 87 a guessing game . What job is it?

Warming up “Guessing game”

* You don’t walk. You don’t talk to the people in your cabin. You’re in the air. What job is it? (pilot)

* You look after people in hospital. You sometimes work day and sometimes night. ( a nurse)

* You build houses, buildings. ( a builder)

* You mend cars. ( a mechanic)

* You interview people. You write articles for newspapers. ( a journalist)

* You teach pupils, students. Your job is difficult but you have a long holiday. (a teacher)

Today we are going to speak about a very important thing in your life about your future career. It’s not a simple matter to choose your future career. There are a lot of professions and it is not an easy thing to choose the one which will suit you. Today we are going to speak about pros and cons of different professions.

A person whose job is to help people with the law or talk for them to the court (lawyer)

A person whose business is to buy, sell or look after houses / land for people (estate agent)

A person who does work to improve bad social conditions and help people in need (social worker)

A person who welcome or deals with people arriving at a hotel, at a place of business, visiting a doctor (a receptionist)

A person trained to look after sick animals (a vet)

A person whose job is to work with electricity (electrician)

A person who prepares or organizes a newspaper, periodical or book (editor)

A person who studies chemistry, a scientist who specializes in chemistry (a chemist)

A person who makes and sells medicines ( a chemist, a pharmacist)

A person who owns a travel agency or works there and whose business is to arrange travels (travel agent).

A game “ The Prognosis of Professions”

Students are talking about their future. But they don’t name the job. Other students have to guess the name of the profession.
