Salesman: Thank you. Well, you can exchange it for another model of equal value. If the chosen model is more expensive, you can pay the remaining sum.

Customer: All right. But I need your recommendations.

Salesman: You are really lucky because we start a sale today. This week we offer Toshiba car audios at bargain rates. Would you like to look at displayed goods? 

Customer: Sure!

Salesman: These models are $ 50 – 150 cheaper than usually now. These car audios are 20 – 45% off their normal retail price.  They are a great deal. You can compare their technical characteristics. And I would like to turn your attention to the guarantee period: they all have a three year guarantee. 

Customer: I like the design and the technical characteristics of this model.

My every day shopping

When we want to buy something, we go to a shop. 

Everyday shopping is rather traditional: some white and brown bread, milk, butter, sugar, salt, eggs, sausages. But it’s not necessary to visit different provisional shops such as bakery or butchery to buy food for the family because we could buy foodstuffs in a supermarket. Different goods are sold under one roof, so customers can save their time having all goods bought in no time.

Well, shopping is no fun any longer, but my daily duty. I dream to be an economist. I try to be rational and economical. I try to follow some steps. First of all it is necessary to make a shopping list of what we need. Then we should calculate how much our purchases would cost and take this very sum of money with us. The third rule tells that we shouldn’t be hungry while shopping, a hungry person buys the things his or her stomach dictates to buy, not thinking about prices or rational nutrition. And we shouldn’t go shopping immediately after we have got our salary, when we feel impressed by a large sum of money and don’t think it’s for a long month to last.

Every day before leaving for school I look around the kitchen to see what we need. And on my way from school I drop into the nearest supermarket, and buy bread and other everyday essentials. Every Friday evening my Mum and I examin our kitchen more carefully as Saturday is our shopping day. The shopping list is rather long, so we both go shopping.

The method of shopping is very simple. In a self-service shop a customer goes from counter to counter selecting and putting into a basket the goods he wants to buy. It’s absolutely necessary to check the dates before which this or that foodstuff should be used, not to buy something of bad quality. Then a customer takes the basket to the check-out counter where the prices of the purchases are added up. After paying money to the cashier the customer can get his purchases.

Mum and I go to the supermarket where we can buy different things at once: fish, bread, sausages, tea, sugar, spices, eggs. I think that a bakery department is among the best in the shop as it has a rich choice of biscuits. And what is more importable they are always fresh and tasty.

Another department of the supermarket, which we have to visit, is a dairy. At the dairy we buy milk, cream, yogurt, cheese, butter and other products. My Mum and I are regular customers at the greengrocer’s where potatoes, carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, oranges, apples and other fruits and vegetables. In summer we prefer buying fruits, berries and vegetables at the nearest market.

Sometimes I have to go to a department store. I can buy there fabrics and footwear, glass, ready-made clothes and cosmetics, toys and electric appliances, furniture and sport goods, cameras and films, and what not.

At the butcher’s there’s a wide choice of meat such as beef, pork, mutton, chicken and turkey. It’s really a great skill to choose a piece of meat you need, for soup or for chops or shashlyk, so it’s my Mum who is to buy meat. 

I can’t but say that our shops are becoming more and more European-like. Their halls, adverts attract more customers. Shopping gets some element of fun and entertainment.

Третье правило - покупки не нужно совершать на голодный желудок, потому как голодный человек покупает то, что диктует ему голод, не думая о ценах и полезной пище. И мы не должны сразу же пускаться в магазин, как только получили зарплату, когда мы переполнены чувствами в отношении большой суммы денег и не растягивайте получку на многие месяцы.

Каждый день, до того, как я ухожу в школу, я осматриваю кухню и смотрю, что нам нужно. И на моем пути со школы я заглядываю в ближайший супермаркт, и покупаю хлеб и другие необходимые вещи. Каждую пятницу, вечером, мы с мамой и я более тщательно подходим к процессу покупок. Список покупок оказывается длинным и мы оба отправляемся в магазин.

Метод, который я использую, очень прост. В магазинах самообслуживания, покупатели переходят от прилавка к прилавку, выбирая что-то и кладя в корзину вещи, которые он хочет купить. Обязательно нужно смотреть дату производства или же истечение срока годности, чтобы не купить что-то в плохом качестве. Затем покупатель берет корзину и приходит на кассу, чтобы пробили положенные в корзину продукты. После того, как деньги перейдут к кассиру, покупатель может забрать свои покупки.

Мама и я идем в супермаркет, где мы можем купить различные вещи: рыбу, хлеб, сосискви, чай, сахар, специи, яйца. Я думаю, что отдел выпечки - среди лучших в магазине, так как в его ассортименте множество пирожных. И что самое главное - они всегда свежие и вкусные.

Другой отдел супермаркет - это тот, который я посещаю частенько - молочный отдел. В молочном отделе я покупаю молоко, сметану, йогурт, сыр, масло и другие продукты. Моя мама и я регулярно закупаемся в бакалейной лавке - картошкой, морковкой, капустой, огурцами, томатами, апельсинами, яблоками и другими фруктами и овощами. Летом мы предпочитаем покупать фрукты, ягоды и овощи на ближайшем рынке.

Иногда я хожу в специальные отделы. Я могу купить там фабричную одежду и ботинки, кружи, одежду и косметику, игрушки и электронные гаджеты.

In 1990 Tim Berners-Lee created the first World Wide Web server and browser. It opened for commercial use in 1991. In 1994 other advances took place, such as online banking and the opening of an online pizza shop by Pizza Hut. During that same year, Netscape introduced SSL encryption of data transferred online, which has become essential for secure online shopping. In 1995 Amazon expanded its online shopping, and in 1996 eBay appeared. More recently Overstock has also become one of the world's largest and reliable online shopping stores.

Webshop

The term 'webshop' has a number of meanings as a noun. An online retailer may be called a 'webshop'. Web development, hosting and other web-related activities can be called 'webshops.' The word 'webshop' is also used as a verb- 'I will webshop for that.' Buying online grew because, over time, transportation costs went up and telecom costs went down and access to the Internet became commonplace. Online shopping offers a larger selection of goods and services and thus greater choice at optimal prices. The problems with online shopping are that you can not smell, touch, taste or try what you are buying.

Payment

Online shoppers commonly use credit card to make payments, however some systems enable users to create accounts and pay by alternative means, such as:

* Debit card
* Various types of electronic money
* Cash on delivery (C.O.D., offered by very few online stores)
* Cheque
* Wire transfer/delivery on payment
* Postal money order
* Reverse SMS billing to mobile phones
* Gift cards
* Direct debit in some countries

Some sites will not allow international credit cards and billing address and shipping address have to be in the same country in which site does its business. Other sites allow customers from anywhere to send gifts anywhere. The financial part of a transaction might be processed in real time (for example, letting the consumer know their credit card was declined before they log off), or might be done later as part of the fulfillment process.

Privacy

Privacy of personal information is a significant issue for some consumers. Different legal jurisdictions have different laws concerning consumer privacy, and different levels of enforcement.Many consumers wish to avoid spam and telemarketing which could result from supplying contact information to an online merchant. In response, many merchants promise not to use consumer information for these purposes, or provide a mechanism to opt-out of such contacts.

Many websites keep track of consumers shopping habits in order to suggest items and other websites to view. Brick-and-mortar stores also collect consumer information. Some ask for address and phone number at checkout, though consumers may refuse to provide it.
