A.About one million people live in Auckland. It is the biggest city in New Zealand. It is an important business and industrial centre. It is the most dynamic and multicultural city in Zealand.

B.The city's history began when the Maoris people settled there. The first Europeans came there in 1840. Auckland used to be the capital of Zealand. Since 1945 Auckland has grown and now you can see lots of modern offices and trading centres there.

C.Besides, there are a lot of famous sights. You can enjoy Maoris dancers in the Auckland Museum. At the Parnell Village you can visit some of the first European settlers' homes. If you are a great nature-lover, visit the beautiful Auckland Domain for its large palm trees and exotic plants.

D.Auckland is often called "City of Sails" because it is an ideal place for water sports. Wherever you are in the city you can see the sea and the boats of the Auckland Harbour. Auckland is famous for its beaches and nice fishing places. You can go in for swimming or diving or fishing or sailing or windsurfing there.

E.The only bad point for visiting Auckland is the ticket price. If you are from Europe or from America, it is rather high. It will take you twenty-four hours to get from Europe to Auckland,
for example. Of course, there are regular international flights in Auckland.
