Dear Tom,
Thanks for your letter. It was lovely to hear from you.

You asked me about independence from parents. Well, in Russia opinions are different. Personally, I don’t want to live alone as I don’t have enough money. And yes, it’s easy to rent an apartment for everyone, but only if you have money.

By the way, how was Scotland? I heard it was rainy – is that true? And did you visit football match between Scotland and Russia?

Well, I have to go now. I promised my Mom to clean the bathroom.

   Dear Michael,
   Thank you for your letter. It’s so wonderful to hear from you.
   In your letter you asked me how I spent my summer. I had a great summer. First I went to a youth camp, which is located not far from Kaluga on picturesque lake. We had a lot of sunbathing and swimming in the lake, played soccer, danced in the evening, etc. I made lot of good friends.
   Then, the second half of the summer I spent with grandmother in the garden. The garden is located near a large forest. We went hiking, picked mushrooms and berries and bathed in a wide river.
   However, I already wanted to school, I missed my school friends.
   Sorry, I must go. I will write to you soon again!

I was delighted to receive your letter. I want to tell you about my best friend.

I have several friends. But the best among them is Olga. She’s younger than me. Olga is very funny and interesting person. With Olga, you can talk on various topics.

I met Olga met this summer when I was resting in the camp, she was sharing the room with me. When I saw her for the first time I did not like. After I talked to her, I found out she was my soul mate. We like the same music and we also do the same sport. I really want to see her again, but I can’t because she lives far away from me. But she and I chat on the Internet.

I am interested in your plans for the weekend. Where are you going to spend it? Who with? What are you going to do? Tell me more about your plans.

However, I like to do my room, it makes me feel cheerful. I’m sure that we should help parents. They support us whatever we start doing and helping is the least we can do for them.

What a joy it is to write to you again! I'm sorry it took so long did not write to you, but I was busy preparing for the new school year.

I go to school №497 in the city of Moscow. The school is very big. We study from Monday till Saturday.

Actually, it seems to be a nice place and I enjoy studying there. The girls in my class are very friendly. I really like my school.

I’ve got some new subjects this year. Such as Stenography, Typewriting and Economics.

And how are things at work? Have you been promoted? Did your mom go to Monaco?

Thanks for your letter. I am so glad to hear from you again.
So, as for your situation, do not be upset. It happened to me thousand times. I and my friend are very different, but we try to understand each other. Once my friend and I were going to watch a film. My friend prefers soap operas,but i hate it, that is why we argued so long! In addition, we argue about our tastes in music or literature. But i think that argument is silly and if you really appreciate your friend you should talk with her.
By the way, why did you quarrel? What hobbies does your friend have? Does she share your interests?

Dear Lucy,

Thank you for your letter! Sorry that I haven’t written to you for so long but I was busy all this time.

It was interesting to learn that you love soap operas. Of course this is very interesting, but I prefer active relaxation. In my opinion it is more modern king of entertainment that benefits the body.

One of my favorite entertainment is skating. I love to go with friends to an ice palace in Novomoskovsk. There are specially equipped rooms for figure skating.

I also like other entertainments such as going to the movies. This is very fun and interesting. You can watch all new movies and discuss them with friends.

Lucy, You said you are taking part in the school play. It is very interesting. I would like to know the name of that play? I really wonder what role you play in it. Please tell me when will you have a performance? I would love to see it.

   My classmates and I go to museums about three or four times a year, it’s not too often. My favourite museum is the Hermitage, which is located in St. Petersburg. I’m sure that everyone should visit the Hermitage at least once because this museum has a long history connected with Russian imperial family.
   Which month are you planning to go hiking exactly? Is your sister going to join you? What place have you chosen?

  Thank you for your letter. I don't think we are great travelers in our family. But we sometimes make open-air journeys all together or my daddy and me. Mom is not so fond of walking on foot and camping. Our favorite route is travelling in the nearest countryside, which is sometimes very exciting, if the weather doesn't spoil the impression. We have a kind of our place in the local forest where we usually stay.
  It's great that you've started writing books. What genre are you interested in? Do you write novels or stories? How do your parents find your hobby? I hope you'll email a copy to me. I'm really excited to read it.

It was great to hear from you! I'm really glad you passed your History test.
You asked me about hobbies which are popular with Russian teens. Well many teenagers are interested in music and playing computer games. Others are into collecting or doing sports. As for me, my hobby is cooking. I collect traditional Russian recipes and cook these dishes. However, I feel I don’t have enough time for my hobby as I’ve got too much homework. If I had more free time, I’d take up photography. It’s really exciting.
Anyway, it’s great that school is over. What are you going to do in summer? Will you stay with your grandparents? Would you like to visit other countries?

 Thanks for your letter.
 I wish I'd been at that party and had fun with all of you! I usually have birthday parties. I invite some of my class- mates and closest friends. Besides birthdays my friends have New Year's parties, but I don't attend them since New Year is a family celebration here. My favorite celebration is Halloween, which has become popular here. However it's not allowed in my school, that's why my friends and I have Halloween parties at home. We dress up in costumes have snacks and drinks play jokes, dance and tell scary stories. Sometimes our parents join us. I really think this day is for fun!
