Today we shall learn modal verbs can/could. Doing many exercises and reading the text about two super kids.

Presentation the new material:

Can/could-форма модального глагола сan/couldодинаковы во всех лицах. После модального глаголасan/couldупотребляется неопределенная форма глагола без «to».Основное значение модального глагола сan – способность, умение что-то делать в настоящем времени. Сould- способность, умение что-то делать в прошедшем времени.

Ivan is thirteen and he is the number 13 chess player in the world. He was born in Russia but now he lives in America in a one-room flat with his father. He doesn’t go to school. He practices chess every day.

Ivan was different from a young age: he could ride a bike when he was eighteen months old and read before he was two. He could play the piano at four. He doesn’t have friends. He thinks other teenagers are boring. He doesn’t like playing sports or watching TV. He lives for chess! He travels a lot. Last year he was in Paris, Rome and London.

Lukasis ten years old and he is a brilliant pianist. He was born in Hungary but now he lives in Vienna with his parents. He goes to school two days a week. He practices the piano six hours a day.

Lukas was different from a young age: he could play the piano when he was two and he could read music before he could read books. He has a lot of friends. He likes playing football and ice-hockey. He gives concerts in different countries. Last year he was in Washington, London and New York.
