    I’m glad to get your letters! I am really happy that you had a great holiday. I think I'd enjoy travelling, but I've never travelled abroad.
    I usually go to my granny’s house not far from Moscow. I spend summers swimming in a river, playing with my friends and enjoying the nature there. I have a wonderful garden with different flowers. It's usual for Russians to grow vegetables and fruit at summer houses but I never do it!     You asked about the type of holidays I like. Well, let's say I don't like lying on a river bank doing nothing. I prefer working in my garden and hiking.
    You mentioned taking French classes. What made you take them? Do you think French is difficult? When are you going to start?

    You asked me to tell you about Moscow. Well, it is a very beautiful city especially in autumn when all trees are of different colors. The heart of Moscow is the Kremlin. It's an ancient fortress with beautiful churches inside.
    Moscow is a unique city, where history and modern life are brought together. In the one hand, you can enjoy traditional Russian festivals such as Maslenitsa. On the other hand, Moscow is a modern 24-hour city where you can visit different theaters, cinemas and exhibitions.
    By the way, will you tell me about your school and school life? Do you have any clubs at school? Are you given much homework? Please write back.

    The history of my native country is great! Russia is famous for its achievements and outstanding personalities. As for the most important events in the history of Russia, it's The Great Patriotic War. Russian people fought for their motherland and happiness of future generations. I think that Russian commander G. Zhukov who took part in the war of 1941- 1945 is really a great figure in our history. Besides, my town is related to the great past of Russia. It was the place of terrible battles during the war.

  Thank you for your letter. I don't think we are great travelers in our family. But we sometimes make open-air journeys all together or my family and me. Mom is not so fond of walking on foot and camping. Our favorite route is travelling in the nearest countryside, which is sometimes very exciting, if the weather doesn't spoil the impression. We have a kind of our place in the local forest where we usually stay.
  It's great that you've started writing books. What genre are you interested in? Do you write novels or stories? How do your parents find your hobby? I hope you'll email a copy to me. I'm really excited to read it.

As for me, I won our school tennis championship. You know I've been playing tennis for nine years. My parents bought me a terrific present - a new American tennis racket.

I cannot say that my classmates fond of sports. Their likes may be divided into two groups: the boys like playing football and basketball at free time; however, girls are not keen on sport games. Some of them prefer aerobics; the others don't go in for sports at all. It's strange, isn't it? 
I congratulate Jane on entering such a prestigious university.
What department has she chosen? What is she going to study? Where will she live? 

Well, I must go now my mother is waiting for me.

As for my new school it's very big! It has three computer rooms and wonderful sport facilities. Actually, it seems a nice place and I enjoy studying there. The cadets in my class are very friendly.   
I've already made some new friends and often meet after classes.                     
the subjects are difficult, I have to learn a lot! 
By the way, what music styles do you enjoy? Have you got any favorite bands? Would you like to go to their concert? As for me, I prefer Radiohead. They are cool!

    In your letter you ask me about my friends and my parents' attitude towards them.   I've got a lot of friends. Some of them are interested in rock music. My parents don't understand it but they never show their negative attitude. Of course, I'm sure that my parents' opinion is very important because they have got more experience. However, if my parents don't like my friends, I try to explain them my opinion and we discuss the situation. Sometimes they are right!

    As for me, I like reading and books play a very important role in my life. Unfortunately I don't have enough time for reading because I 'm busy with my studies. That's why I don't spend a lot of time on reading. I read a lot in summer when I 'm on holiday. Of course, I like adventure novels best of all.
    At the same time I read newspapers and magazines. As for my favourite book in my childhood, it was Cinderella. I read it a lot of times.

    You want to know what kind or music I listen to. I'd like to tell you that music is my hobby and I'm fond of pop music. I have got a wonderful collection of CDs at home. Besides, my preferences depend on my mood.
Sometimes I like to listen to romantic and calm music. Other day I prefer energetic dance music. As for my favourite singer, he's Dima Bilan. His songs are so wonderful! You're interested in my parents' attitude towards my music preferences. They share my interests and we often discuss songs or music video.

As a rule, my friends and I go to the cinema twice a month. Last week we saw "…". It was a funny cartoon and we laughed a lot. My dream is to watch old silent movies.
