Host 1 - Ladies and gentlemen! Today we are happy to welcome you at our Press-Conference of the Countries- Participants of the International Committee on the Issues of the Historic Heritage of World War the Second

Host 2 – Let me introduce the members of the press-conference: Our history Consultants, the representatives of Russia, Germany, France, the USA and Great Britain.

Host 1 - The brief historic reference will be presented by the chairman …

Chairman - Our committee was created to help coming generations to live in peace. Moreover, we don’t want the history of mankind to be rewritten and to become a string of half remembered events of the past. Our history is what we are now, it explains things to us, and warns us about the future, because as the saying goes” History repeats itself”. They can say “Every person lives in the past, present and future”, that is why nobody can change the past for the sake of their interests otherwise humankind is destined to repeat their mistakes over and over again.

This is what we witness nowadays when contemporary politicians are trying to distort the facts and results of the Second World War.

Host 2 - Thank you. Your mission is obviously noble and useful. Now, the representatives of World Media are welcomed with their questions.

America National Agency- It’s obvious, the victory over the fascist Germany is the result of mutual efforts of the countries-allies and the leading role was played by the US, as it provided the major material support during the warfare being the most industrially and economically developed country of that period. Do you agree with that?

History Consultant – Well, the statement is clear but dubious, it’s an open secret that American enterprises had been selling high-tech equipment as well as raw materials to Hitler Germany through neutral states, though officially, were the members of Anti-Hitler Coalition. We are inclined to think that only cooperation in all the spheres involving all countries-allies contributed to the victory over the “brown plague”, and Russia definitely suffered the biggest losses in manpower, first of all, and was the main defeating force in the struggle against the enemy.

Host 1 – NTV, your question, please.

NTV, Russia – President Obama said that the USA freed the people of Europe, while we know that the Soviet troops were the first to reach Berlin setting such countries as Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia free from German invasion. So, who do you think is right?

HC -Undoubtedly, according to the historical data the Soviet Army was the major force that contributed greatly to liberating the countries of Eastern and South Eastern Europe. Moreover, it was the Red Army that reached Berlin first and made the Germans capitulate. It can be indirectly proved by the figures of losses the countries suffered to defeat Fascists. The casualties of the USSR were equal to 12 million military people, while the USA lost about 300 thousand soldiers.

HC - It is believed that it was Germany that attacked the Soviet Union on the 22-nd of June 1941 but there were many other states that fought against our country, weren’t there?

HC -You are quite right. The countries that were allies of Hitler Germany and officially declared war on the USSR were Romania, Finland, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy and Croatia. To add more, there were a great number of volunteers from Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, Spain and even Luxembourg who joined the German army in conducting hostilities against the Soviets that stood alone at that period.

Host 1 - Still, it should be mentioned that there were anti-Fascist movements even in the countries that supported Germany. They actively fought against German invaders and helped to defeat the aggressor. German anti-Fascist movement was one of the most efficient at that time.

-Welches Land war eines der ersten , wo die Antifaschisten erschienen ?

HC -Das war Deutschland ,wo die Traditionen des Revolutions kampfe sund der Sozial demokratie sehr stark waren, wo die Kommunistische Partei viele Anhänger hatte. Dabei sind nur ein paar Namen zu nennen:

HC-Ernst Thälmann , Abgeordnete des Reichstags, Vorsitzende der Kommunistischen Partei Deutschlands, Führer der deutschen Arbeiter klasse und ihres Kampf flügels –Rotfront. Die geballte Faust , Symbol des Rotfronts , ist zum Symbol des Kampfes des Proletariats für seine Rechte und gegen den Faschismus geworden. (Ernst Thälmann wurde 1944 im KZB uchenwal der mordet)

HC -Klara Zetkin, Funktionärin der internationalen Arbeiter bewegung, Sozial demokratin, Kämpferin für Frauenrechte. Bei der ersten Reichstags sitzung 1933 sagte sie als die älteste Reichstags abgeordnete ,wie folgt : „ Die Forderung dieser Stunde ist die Einheitsfront der Werktätigen , um den Faschismus zurück zu schlagen. Vor dieser dringlichen historischen Notwendigkeit müssen alle gewerkschaftlichen, religiösen und ideologischen Erwägungen ,die uns fesseln und voneinander trennen, zurücktreten“ ( Klara Zetkin war gezwungen, in die Sowjetunion zu immigrieren, sie wurde an der Kremlmauer beigesetzt) Ihr Sohn - Max Zetkin –arbeitete in den Kriegsjahren als Chirurg im Sotschier Spital auf dem Territorium des Sanatoriums „Rotes Moskau“ .

HC -Am 3. August 1936 rief die Kommunistische Partei Deutschlands alle Antifaschisten auf, sichaktivam Kampfan der Seiteder Spanischen Republik zu beteiligen Es wurde die 11. Internationale Brigade aus 2 tausend deutschen Antifaschisten gebildet. In den Fabriken und Werken Deutschlands wurden Geldmittel für das respublikanische Spanien. In dies en Jahren wurde in Span ien auch der deutsche

Freie Rundfunk ,Welle 29,8 geschaffen, deutsch enthüllte er den Faschismus und rief auf, da gegen zu kämpfen.

HC - Spricht man über 30-er Jahre und deutsche Internationalisten und Antifaschisten , darf man nicht noch einen Namen weglassen. Ernst Busch, Sänger und Antifaschist, den man „ Roten Orpheus“ und „singendes Herz der Arbeiterklasse nannte“. Seine Lieder „Einheitsfrontlied“, “Solidaritätslied“ , „Linker Marsch“ riefen zum Kampf auf. 1972 wurde ihm der Internationale Leninfriedenspreis verliehen. Ihm widmete Konstantin Simonow sein Gedicht „Deutscher“.

HC - Ein Teil der deutschen Antifaschisten kämpfte illegal („Rote Kapelle“, „Weiße Rose“), der andere Teil in der Emigration. (Ramsai-Gruppe mit Richard Sorge an der Spitze. Er war einer der ersten ,der das genaue Datum des Überfalls der Sowjetunion nannte) Viele progressive Schriftsteller verließen Deutschland, aber sie schrieben und veröffentlichten ihre Werke , die über Greuel des Faschismus erzählten. Das waren Lion Feuchtwanger, Nobelpreisträger Thomas Mann, Erich Maria Remarque, Erich Weinert u.a.

1943 wurde auf der Вasisdes Lagers für Kriegs gefangen ein Krasnogorsk eine Antifaschisten schule gegründet und später entstand hier das Nationale Komitee „Freies Deutschland“ , das die Aufklärungs arbeit unter den deutschen Kriegs gefangenen durchführte . Seine Mitglieder tratenander Frontauchauf. Das war sehr wichtig. Ein Deutscher sprach mit Deutschen und öffnet eihnen die Augen ,was geschieht.

Host 2 - Gabes Deutsche, die an der Seite der Roten Armee gegen die Faschisten kämpften?

HC- Ja. Fritz Schmenkel. Sein Vater, der Arbeiter war, wurde während einer Demostration von den Nazis ermordet. An der Ostfront suchte Fritz Partisanen , er wollte zusammen mit ihnen gegen den Faschismus kämpfen. ImGebietSmolenskgelangesihm . Zuerst traute man natürlich seinen Worten nicht. Er sagte : „ Ja, ich bin Deutscher, aber ich bin kein Faschist. Ich liebe mein Volk und mein einziges Ziel ist selbstlos gegen den Faschismus zu kämpfen.“ Er wurde MG-Schütze und Dolmetscher, er war sehr tapfer und 1943 wurde dem Deutschen Fritz Schmenkel der Orden des Roten Banners verliehen. Ende 1943 sprang er mit dem Fallschirm in Weißrussland, geriet in Gefangenschaft, wurde grausam gefoltert , verriet aber keinen. Er sagte seinen Henkern : „Ihr könnt mich töten, aber ihr könnt mich nicht zum Sprechen nötigen“. Am 15, Februar 1944 wurde er zumTodeverur teilt. Er war 28 „Ich habe Deutschland nicht verraten. Ich habe für das deutsche Volk und meine Heimat gekämpft, um sie von den Faschisten, die sie unterjocht haben, zu befreien.“ Es gibt ein Poem „Der Mensch, der geschwiegen hat“

Am 6.Oktober 1964 wurde Fritz Schmenkel postum der Ehrentitel Held der Sowjetunion verliehen.

-Gab es Deutschland Versuche Adolf Hitler zu vernichten?

HC - Ja, im Juli 1944 . Einer der Hauptpersonen in der Verschwörer gruppe, die das Attentat geplant und am 20.Juli 1944 verwirklicht hatten, war Graf Klaus Schenk von Stauffenberg . Er stammte aus einer der ältesten adligen Familien in Süddeutschland. Das Attentat misslang. Die Versch wörer wurden hingerichtet. Im heutigen Deutschland ist der 20.Juli ein Trauertag und es werden Trauermaßnahmen durchgeführt. Am Ort, wo Graf von Stauffenberg und seine Kameraden hingerichtet worden sind, leisten die Militärpersonen einen Fahneneid. Seit 2004 hat von Stauffenberg offiziell den Status vom Widerstandskämpfer.

-Was für eine Organisation ist „Schwarzes Kreuz“? Womit beschäftigt sie sich?

HC -In Österreich gibt es eine Organisation „Schwarzes Kreuz“, entstanden nach dem 1. Weltkrieg , 1919 in Wien. Ihre Aufgabe besteht in der Fürsorge für Kriegsgräber ungeachtet von der Nationalität. Sie versucht Namen von Gefallenen zu erfahren, denn viele Gräber sind Mass engräber. Sie führt Antikriegsaktionen durch. Eine große Aufmerksamkeit wird den Jugendlichen gewidmet.Regelmäßig organisiert das „Schwarze Kreuz“ Jugendlager in verschiedenen europäischen Ländern .Ihr Ziel ,Friedhöfe und Kriegsgräber in Ordnung zu bringen und zu halten. Unter seinen Mitgliedern sind einfache Leute. Es gibt viele Sponsoren. Das Schwarze Kreuz sorgt insgesamt für 241 000 Kriegsgräber in ganz Europa.

Host 1 – BBC, your question, please.

-The media spoke much about the celebration of the 70-th anniversary ofthe D-Day landings which saw 156,000 troops from the allied countries including the United Kingdom and the United States join forces to launch an audacious attack on the beaches of Normandy. Do you consider that event to be of the same importance for the victory over the German Forces as Stalingrad and Kursk battles?

HC-It is historically proved that by D- day two crucial battles in Stalingrad and Kursk, where German troops had been completely defeated by the Soviet Army, had already taken place. So, the Second Front could not influence much the situation on the eastern fronts where the main warfare developed. In addition to that, the united efforts of the USA, the UK and their allies were preventive not to allow Communism to spread over Europe. It led to the division of Europe and erection of Berlin Wall, which had been the symbol of the divide for many decades until the 9 November,1989.

Host 2 - As you know France was among the first countries that were invaded by Hitler Germany. Though the country was occupied many people refused to surrender and joined The Resistance Movement which did a lot for liberating of the country.

LA FRANCE DANS LA SECONDE GUERRE MONDIALE.

La France a déclaré la guerre à l'Allemagne le 3 septembre 1939, mais elle n'a pas conduit les opérations militaires. La seule tentative d'influencer au cours de la guerre c’était L'offensive de la Sarre.

Le 25 mai le général Vejgan a déclaré à la séance du gouvernement qu'il faut demander l’adoption de la capitulation aux Allemands.

Le 8 juin les troupes allemandes ont atteint la Seine. Le 10 juin le gouvernement de la France a déménagé de Paris à la région d'Orléans. Paris était officiellement annoncé la ville ouverte. Le 14 juin les troupes allemandes sont entrées à Paris.

Le 22 juin 1940 la France capitulait devant l'Allemagne, et dans la forêt de Compiègne on concluait le Deuxième armistice de Compiègne. On a divisé la France en deux partie: la zone d'occupation des troupes allemandes et l'État de marionnettes dirigé par le régime de Vichy.

Après l'occupation allemande en France on a organisé «le Mouvement de la Résistance». La partie des Français aidait l'Union Soviétique et les alliés. À la fin de 1942 a l'URSS on formait le Régiment de chasse 2/30 Normandie-Niemen, qui se compose des pilotes français et les mécaniciens d'aéronautique soviétiques. HC - Being interviewed by one of the German TV channels, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk claimed that the Soviet Army invaded and conquered the Ukraine and the Countries of Eastern Europe during the warfare of WW II. Surprisingly, no official comments on the statement were made by the leaders of the EU. Do you consider the information valid and true to life?

HC -The military operations carried out by the Soviet Army during the liberation of Eastern Europe can definitely be characterized as bringing peace to every city, settlement or village occupied by the fascists. Those who survived in exhausted and ruined lands welcomed Soviet troops with flowers and cheers. The horrors of war were left behind and they managed to start their lives anew and recover from the losses and destructions they had suffered. Moreover, it would be nice if Mr. Yatsenyuk knew the history of his native country, which originally had always been the part of Russia since its territorial identification, and then, consequently, the inseparable part of the Soviet Union. So, at that moment the Ukraine was one of the Soviet republics, so the Red Army ---% of which were the Ukrainians, side by side with soldiers of all the nationalities of the former SU fought for the freedom of their motherland.

HC -Let me add to what has already been said. It’s a pity that today’s modern Ukrainian politicians are not aware of , or, probably, purposefully forget about the sufferings of the civilians on the occupied territories of the Ukraine and the whole Eastern Europe which were stopped by the Red Army troops. The number and the cruelty of mass-scale punitive operations were really terrifying. On the territory of the Ukraine alone there were thousands of victims among civilians. It is impossible to forget the horrors of Babiy Yar , the place where more than 150 thousand Jews, Gypsies and Karaims were killed alongside with the prisoners of war in 1941. Another example is Belorussian Hatyn, where 145 villagers, 75 of whom were children, were blocked in the local church and burnt alive. The fact that predecessors of the nationalist’s movements, which are being so actively supported by some Ukrainian statesmen nowadays, took part in those crimes characterizes the contemporary policy of the Ukraine. Tough a lot of war criminals were rightly accused at Nurnberg’s Trial, many of them got away with the punishment and now are praised and honored on the territory of Ukrain.

HC- One more serious crime against civilian population of European countries is the construction of concentration camps where more than 31million people were killed or died of starvation, diseases and inhumane experiments. The prisoners of more than 20 camps of death were freed by the Soviet troops. I suppose, you can conclude yourself what the role of the Soviet Union Army was.

Host 2 - Well, dear friends. Our conference is coming to the end though there are a lot to discuss. The events of the WW II are the subject of historical research but not the subject of falsification. Anyway, we should not forget the united efforts of all nations in preventing Fascists from annihilation of human values. And ,of course, the lessons of history should not be ignored as they can help us not to repeat the same mistakes in future.
