At first look at the screen. There’s a short poem which is connected with the theme of our lesson. Listen and repeat after me.(line by line)

So I suggest watching a video. Be very attentive because then you’ll do this exercise. (5 min)

Let’s check what you remember. Fill in the gaps with a right word. You have 3 min.

2) Now look at the screen, there’re places which we must visit. Some of them you know. Start with a) Piccadilly Circus: It’s the centre of entertainment. It is the meeting point of six streets. Here you can find the most expensive shops, restaurants and entertainment places. There’s a fountain with the statue of Angel on the top.

b) Trafalgar square:It’s the main square of London. In the centre of the square there is a tall monumentto Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains in the square.

c) Buckingham palace-Would you like to live in a house with 600 rooms, 78 bathrooms, a cinema, a swimming pool and a post office?

Look at the picture. What can you see?

Buckingham Palace: It’s the most famous Queen’s residence. If the Queen’s flag is flying, it means that the Queen is at home.

3) It’s time to do this task to know more about the Queens’ house. Read a definition and choose the option which is suitable for it.

d) The National Gallery: It’s one of the London's most important museums on Trafalgar Square. It has an impressive collection of paintings.

e)Guys, what’s this?

The Houses of Parliament: It is the seat of the British Government. It has two Houses: the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The famous clock Big Ben stands near the Houses of Parliament.

Yes, it’s Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey: It is a symbol of England. The coronation of all British Kings and Queens takes place in Westminster Abbey. Some famous English people are also buried here.

Big Ben: It is the biggest clock bell in Britain. The clock and the bell got their names after Sir Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man, whose nickname was Big Ben.When Parliament is sitting after dark, a light shines from the top of Big Ben's tower.

The Thames

Tower Bridge: This is Tower Bridge, built in 1894.It is one of the famous bridges across the Thames. It opens and ships go up and down the River Thames.

The British Museum: It’s the largest museum in the United Kingdom.The museum has 7 million objects in its collection.

It displays human history and culture.

The Tower of London: The Tower of London, built in the eleventh century, was a fortress, a royal palace, a prison and the King’s zoo. It is a museum now. There are a lot of interesting collections. There are always black ravens in the Tower of London. People keep and look after them very well because they believe that London will be rich while ravens live there.

It’s a church

St Paul’s Cathedral: One of the greatest English churches, St. Paul’s Cathedral is not far from the Tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren built it in the 17^th century. It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers. In one of its towers there is one of the largest bells in the world.

If you want to see London, the best place to go is the Eye.

The London Eye: It’s a big wheel on the River Thames.

There are 33 capsules and one ride takes 30 minutes.

The Eye is very tall-135 metres. At the top of the Eye you get a great view of London. You can see for 40 kilometres. But don’t go if you’re afraid of heights.
