DOING SPORTS GIVES AN IDEAL OPPORTUNITY TO KEEP FIT AND BE HEALTHY.”
We believe that sport is one of those things that makes ourlives really worth living. Doing sports is very useful. First and foremost, sport helps people to keep fit and to stay healthy. Physically inactive people get older earlier than those who are fond of sports. If you are a sportsman, you feel refreshed, have a good posture and that makes you feel better. Furthemore, sport helps to control weight. All teenagers want to be in good shape and to have a stunning figure. Fitness club or a swimming pool will be the best variant. Also, doing sports gives people the increased sense of individuality and it helps to acquire self- confidence, be fast and agile. It builds our character and teaches us to win and lose as well as to overcome difficulties. What is more, sport makes people more organized and better disciplined in our daily activities. In addition, to the physical benefits of sports, there are also many psychological benefits. For example, team sports teach social skills, teamwork skills and respect for authority. This often results in improved academic performance. Moreover, sport strengthens immune system, improves mental health and helps prevent different diseases. Those teenagers who are fond of sport have fewer problems with their school work. Sport is also the best remedy for insomnia and depression. Finally, sport is also a good way to spend free time to make new friends. It unites people who share the same passion to sport. It is much better than drug addiction. There is a truthful Latin proverb “ A sound mind is in a sound body” . If you want to keep yourself, you are to go in for sport. | We are sure that sports are not for everyone . First and foremost, sport takes a lot of energy and time and it can be really exhausting. Sportsmen train all day long and have to follow a diet, which does more harm than good In addition, I’d like to add that sports can create stress for some people by putting pressure on them to be better than other sportsmen. These people tend to exercise harder and harder trying to achieve better results. They stop taking breaks and lose touch with their own needs. Besides, some sports such as snowboarding or rock climbing can be rather dangerous. As a result, sportsmen often have serious injuries. It usually takes them much time to recover. Moreover, sport makes you unhappy when you lose, which can lead to psychological problems . Finally, some professional sportsmen take a dope, a drug which serves to improve their performance. Such drugs do much harm to their health and they can even kill. |
Looking after a pet from an early age effects on the children positively .
We are sure that looking after pets from an early age effects on children positively. First and foremost, pets are good companions for children. Dogs, for example, understand children’s moods. If a child is sad, a dog comforts him and cheers him up. If he is happy, then a dog will respond with playfulness. What is more, animals are always devoted to the children and love them. Children will not probably feel depressed or lonely if they have a pet, as pets are easily taught some interesting tricks and keep a company to the pet keepers. Furthermore, looking after a pet from an early age develops a child’s character. Children who have pets usually become more caring, responsible and sensitive than those children who don’t have pets. Moreover, pets help children stay healthy. Goldfish, for example, can help children relax. Research has shown that watching fish can actually reduce stress. Doctors have found out that people who have high blood pressure feel much better when they stroke pets. Children become calm, sociable, kind-hearted when they stroke their pets. And finally, most pets are easy to look after. If a child has goldfish, he only needs to feed them a pinch of food once a day. Also, they don’t make a mess and they don’t have to be taken to the vet. If a child has a cat, all he needs is the correct food and toys to play with. | We believe that looking after pets has some drawbacks. To start with, some animals make a lot of noise and disturb children. For example, a barking dog can disturb and wake up not only your children but even your neighbour’s. Furthermore, there are some expenses involved as pets need food, special cages, equipment and occasional veterinary treatment which can be costly. Parents may have to give up things like holidays, sport clubs to be able to afford their children to have a pet. Also, some pets can be dangerous for children because they are extremely unpredictable and aggressive. Some parents prefer to have pit-bulls as pets. But people should always bear in mind that these dogs have unpredictable character. They can easily bite a child or even their owner. In addition, pets can be the source of some diseases such as herpes or helminthes or can cause an allergic reaction. So, parents need to show their pets to vets in order to avoid these problems. And finally, some pets need regular exercise or obedience training. This is not always easy and can be expensive if you have to pay for professional care. |
Helping out at home | |
In our opinion, helping out at home develops a lot of necessary skills. First and foremost, helping out around the house is a simple, yet effective way to a healthier lifestyle. This may help your parents feel more relaxed, allow you not to feel ashamed if you invite friends over. Every child can start to help by doing small jobs, such as taking out rubbish bins, helping younger siblings or doing shopping. These small chores can make family life much easier. Secondly, chores teach teens important life skills: doing the dishes, sweeping the floor or just making bed are training exercises for real life. Doing these household chores on a regular basis teaches them to become industrious and responsible adults. Thirdly, chores help children to become more organized and gain precious time management experience that is absolutely essential in adulthood. Creating a list of the appropriate tasks that need to be performed during the day ahead can easily help children. Furthermore, chores help strengthen bonds between the members of the family, especially when parents find ways to make household chores fun. What is more, helping around the house shows that children are becoming mature. It doesn’t mean putting up a fight every time a teen is asked to do something. Instead, it’s better to put a happy smile on the face and complete the daily chores. | We strongly believe that helping out at home is a waste of time. For a start, children just don’t have time. They spend hours in class, and then more hours doing homework. If they participate in sports, music or other activities, they are required to spend plenty of time practicing. By the time they’re in secondary school, they have no time to play. By the time they’re in high school, they have no time to sleep. Also, household tasks are generally boring. The satisfaction of getting the dishes done is not a very big reward nowadays. Instead, teens can find a part- time job and earn their own pocket money after classes at school. Sometimes, children “forget” their responsibilities or complain bitterly and parents give up. Kids have a lot on their minds, from the upcoming football match to whether their sister got a bigger piece of pie. For many parents nowadays it’s easier to do the chores themselves , so when children are young enough to be interested in helping with housework, they shoo them away. By the time they could be helpful, it takes so much time to teach them that it’s still easier to do everything themselves. Don’t forget that teens don’t complete chores thoroughly. Parents can’t really expect their child to do a job as well as they do. And finally, some teenagers are allergic to dust. They can’t even stay at home during cleaning. |
Advertising on TV during children’s programmes
To my mind, advertising on TV during children’s programmes should be bannedbecause children are getting too hung up about the latest toys and gadgets. Firstly, children depend financially on their parents, they want to buy this or that thing advertised on TV and usually such things cost a lot. Secondly, commercial part of advertising is essential for vendors, they just want to sell the goods and it is usually easier for them to attract children’s attention using a colorful advert. What is more, children should be explained that an advertisement is made for adults, not for kids. Children can’t buy anything, they have no money. You shouldn’t believe each word you hear during the advertisement. You should verify the quality before buying something. Children need to focus their visual attention all the time watching ads on TV, and I don’t think it is good for their eyesight. What is more, children shouldn’t spend much time watching TV, and if they watch some necessary informative programmes they have to watch the advertisements, too. I believe that advertisements make children more aggressive interrupting their favourite shows or cartoons too often. I think, it’s better to make a special TV channel for advertisements so that children could watch what they really need on their favourite channels and not spend time on unnecessary advertisements. More often than not I notice how advertisement teaches children to snack, especially eating fast food and drinking cola. It’s very bad for children’s health. | Advertising on TV during children’s programmes has many positive aspects. First of all, many new interesting things are usually advertised on TV. Thanks to adverts, children know beforehand what they want their parents to buy for their birthday parties and other celebrations. Butif parents don’t know what their small children want, it’s easy for them just to watch an ad on TV and understand. Moreover, they can learn where to buy it or even buy it on-line, as more and more companies nowadays sell things on-line. Another positive aspect of TV advertising is that it’s a kind of a rest from some mental activity that children could have while watching some educational programmes. You know, small kids don’t usually understand the meaning of advertisements but it’s a kind of pleasure for them, they just watch it as a fairy tale or an interesting story. What is more, small children like repeated words, colorful pictures, emotions and images. They can see all of these in advertisements. Some children even learn to speak repeating the words from the ads. I see your point, but we should realize that in future children would live in the world of advertisement and may be even work in this field. TV advertising teaches children to speak in public, to make their own advertisement of something, for example, their drawings or handmade toys. In addition, advertisement helps teenagers to socialize with each other. They learn about new gadgets more quickly thanks to TV ads. |
Generation Gap | |
I strongly believe that generation gap is inevitable. There have always been great differences between people of a younger generation and their elders because of their different experiences, opinions, habits and behavior. You know, there is always some kind of dissatisfaction between parents and their children. It may concern such matters as musical tastes, fashion, drug use, culture and politics, noisy parties. Sometimes even lack of freedom can provoke generation gaps. Besides, there is always mutual misunderstanding between adults and teenagers. So it seems that in most families parents don’t understand their children and children don’t understand their parents. I see your point, but adults usually think that misunderstanding appears because of the teenagers. They often behave rude against their parents. Teenagers wear provocative clothes which shock the adults, causing their sharp negative reaction. Naturally, each generation has got its lifestyle. For example, people, who had teenage children in the sixties, could never understand such phenomenon as Beatles. They had known nothing about rock music before and so they thought of it just as a noise. So facing something new parents do not approve the behavior and look of their children and criticize them, telling that "in my youth children were more polite and quiet”. Sometimes teens even rebel against it. In my opinion this conflict is inevitable and it is natural because life is rapidly changing. Every year something new emerges, from fashion styles to pop-stars and of course young people accept it very quickly. Of course, new generation is very different in comparison with previous generation (I mean our parents generation). Today we have high technologies and high-tech gadgets such as tablet, iPad, iPod and so on and they are very entertaining! So children prefer to spend most of their time with their gadgets, but parents prefer to spend most of their time with a family. The majority of children is focusing on their tablet PC and mobile phones rather than eye-to-eye contact. Of course, it irritates their parents. Besides, children don’t like it when there is too much control from their parents because they want to solve their problems independently. Some parents don’t want to understand modern views, ideals and system of values so teens are afraid to tell them about their private life. Another reason for the generation gap, to my mind, is that parents want their children to be clever and learn harder. They are always nagging when their children do badly at school. They make teens do their homework, though sometimes it is unnecessary. Parents don’t want to understand that there can be more important things than good marks in the school-leaving certificate. | We can avoid generation gap as everything depends on a person’s upbringing and his personality traits. I can say for sure, there are a lot of families where parents love and understand their children and help them to cope with all difficulties. On the other hand, adults do not need to worry about their kids too much. Both adults and children should remember about general culture. If people are well brought up and educated their culture will help them to prevent the conflicts making teenagers less defiant and adults more lenient. But when different generations understand each other, their relationship is on the high level. I think mutual understanding means respect for each other’s point of view. I believe, communication is the best way to solve generation gap. Parents and children should talk and discuss all kinds of problems together. Besides, it is very important for both adults and teens to be selfless, patient and sincere. You know, patience, love and understanding are the best keys to the hearts of each other. However, if children are wanted and loved by their parents, why do they fight with them? If the members of the family are great friends to each other, they seem not to have problems at all. Many parents want their children to be creative and they are interested in everything their children like. In addition, when children become teenagers, they question the values of their parents. This is a part of growing up that helps teenagers stabilize their own values. Many parents say that children share their beliefs and values. They arehappy with the way their children are growing up. |
Travelling | |
Travelling is useful as it helps to broaden a person’s outlook To begin with, travelling includes a wide range of outdoor educational aims. For example, travelling can enlarge and broaden people’s mind, improve their knowledge of the world and make their lives more interesting and eventful. Moreover, travelling helps to know more about historical sights, to discover new things, to meet interesting people. Besides, people get both wonderful impressions and learning experiences that educate, excite and inspire. While travelling we can see and learn a lot of things that we can never learn staying at home and watching TV or reading books. I see your point, but the risk of dangers is rather low, though reasonable safety measures are still required. What is more, travelling is also a kind of entertainment. People feel cheerful while travelling and forget about their problems or daily routines. Not only do you learn from traveling, but it is also a great way to have fun and relax. The great thing about traveling is also that you cannot be sure what you will learn until you get there. I must say, you may broaden your taste if you travel around more. Travelalso teaches you independence, because it allows you to escape the familiar surroundings of home and stay in a strange or alien place. You have a great chance of getting away from the crowds and enjoy the mystery and excitement of some places that even time forgot. In addition, travelling makes it possible to experience new cultures, for example, observing different religions and customs. While travelling, you can learn new languages, which may increase your confidence. If you learn a few basic phrases, you are given the chance to interact with the native people. Also you are more likely to experience the friendliness of the locals because language barriers are broken. To sum up, travelling is a challenging, rewarding and is always full of exciting experience. Travelling will certainly benefit people’s outstanding of the world. | Travelling is not necessary, as we have a lot of other means to get to know about what happens in the world. Firstly, some people think travelling is not essential in their lives. They feel themselves the most comfortable when they are at their native places. Secondly, they believe that they can know all socialization concerning geography just sitting comfortably at home and watching TV or reading a book sometimes. Moreover, many people tend to see the biggest disadvantage of travelling in a high price of a tour. In addition, another category of people is often afraid of possible dangers and difficulties, which may happen during their travelling. You know, for some people travelling is a challenge because of their obsessive fear of airplanes and trains or even of just staying far from home. It would be unbearably awful for them to travel. What is more, travelling causes many difficulties such as packing luggage, getting to the airport, insomnia, anxiety, especially if you travel with small children. Another disadvantage is that if you travel abroad you need to change the currency and it may be unstable. I think, nowadays it is the problem number one. Youmust also learn about such things as climate and weather beforehand so that not to spoil your visit. Quite often people go somewhere and get into rainy season, of course they get upset. Some people lose interest in the country they are going to visit, as they have to learn many facts about it beforehand. Don’t forget that some people have a language barrier that’s why it’s better for them to learn about the country they wanted to go just surfing the Net or watching TV instead of visiting it. |
