3.How do you imagine the environment?(картинки).

- I imagine the environment as dirty air. More and more cars, trucks, factories add their bad breath to the air.

- I imagine the environment as dirty water. Our bodies of water are filled with poison: industrial and nuclear wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

- I imagine the environment as acid rains. The sulfates mix with clouds and acid rains fall and harm the creatures that need them.

- I imagine the environment as poisons in food. Farmers spray chemicals on crops to protect them against pests. Pesticides end up in our food and can cause health problems.

- I imagine the environment as nuclear power stations. Excessive radiation is harmful to people and animals. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are.

5. Is it necessary to protect the environment? How do the scientists find a solution to this problem?

Scientists are looking for ways to make factories and cars run cleaner.

Scientists are figuring out ways to make coal burn more cleanly.

Scientists are finding a solution to the problem of dumping chemical wastes into water.

The bodies of water are being cleaned up.

We can use energy from the sun and the wind. The energy is clean.

Scientists are helping farmers to find ways to protect crops without using pesticides.

Farmers are trying a fuel in their tractors made from soybeans.

Some companies have begun to use less packaging.

6.It’s a noble aim to keep the planet green and the cities clean.

What is your personal attitude toward the environmental protection? Let these pictures help you to find out the idea. (картинки).

I think we must stop using our aerosol spray to avoid ozone holes.

To my mind we have to pick up litter.

I am sure we must plant trees.

May be we need to stop eating food in plastic cans.

I believe we should bring bottles and newspapers to recycling centers.

It seems to me we ought to save water.

We must turn off the lights and applinces that we don’t need.

In my opinion we must save wild flowers.

7.I must say that our animals are in danger too. I suggest you the text about our four – legs friends. You have to fill in the charge.(выдать таблицы каждому ученику).

“Animals under threat”.

A lot of animals are in danger now.

They are pandas, which live in jungle, white bears which live in the Arctic, Australian koalas and kangaroos, whales, dolphins, seals.

Many animals and birds are extinct because of destruction of food, water, space, pet trade. Whales and seals are in the dirty water and eat poisoned fish.

15 000 000 big cats: tigers, leopards, jaguars from India and Africa are killed every year for their skins. For example, 8 big cats are killed to make one fur-coat.

Ivory is the reason that elephants are killed.

African parrots are illegally transported abroad for trade. And they often can’t adapt to the new environment and die.

Kangaroos are killed for their skins and meat, sport shoes and handbags.

But animals and plants help to keep the chemical balance of the atmosphere and regulate water resources and help not to disturb the ecological system of the environment.

We must take care of nature and keep the planet healthy.
