Урок «Мастер-класс» по английскому языку в 9-м классе на тему ”IloveyouPeter’sgreatcreation…”

Цель урока: расширение знаний учащихся о Санкт-Петербурге

Задачи урока:

Образовательные:

обучение учащихся монологической речи;

обучение учащихся диалогической речи;

закрепление лексического материала по теме.

Развивающие:

развитие навыков устного высказывания;

развитие межпредметных связей (английского языка, истории и истории города;

развитие творческих способностей учащихся;

развитие умения работать в коллективе.

Воспитательные:

Воспитание любви к родному городу, к его обычаям и традициям.

Тип урока:интегрированный,включающий традиционные методы (обобщение и систематизация знаний), экскурсию, деловую игру.

Формы организации познавательной деятельности:

фронтальная, парная.

Пояснительная записка

Данный урок является продолжением элективного курса о Петербурге “Ilove you Peter’sgreat creation…”. Он прививает интерес к родному городу, его историческим памятникам, традициям и культуре. Урок включает в себя метод проектов («Юный архитектор»), деловую игру (виртуальная экскурсия по Петербургу, «Достопримечательности ожили»), здоровьесберегающие технологии (физкультминутка).

В ходе урока используется интерактивная доска, на которой отображаются иллюстрации и видеоматериалы, рассказывающие об архитектурных достопримечательностях, обычаях и традициях города. Кроме этого, используется раздаточный материал (тест, диалоги, упражнения).

Teacher: Dear students and guests! Soon we’re celebrating the birthday of our home town – Saint-Petersburg on May, 27^th. So our lesson is devoted to our magnificent city. We’ll go on a virtual excursion around Saint-Petersburg. Our guides try to show the most interesting places of the city and tell you about its past. The bus is waiting for us.

Guide 1: We would like to start our sightseeing tour with the poem by A. Pushkin devoted to our home town (epigraph). St. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, was founded by Peter the Great in 1703.It was called in honour of the patron of the city St. Peter. The city is situated on the Neva River and has become the “window” to Europe. It was built by the prominent European and Russian architects. St. Petersburg was the capital of Russia from 1712 till 1918.

Guide 2: We’ll try to show you the most exiting sights of our city and tell you about its past. The history of the city began on a small island Zayachy on 16th of May 1703. The Peter and Paul Fortress was built to protect the Neva banks from Swedish invasion. Later D. Trezzini, the famous Swiss architect, reconstructed the fortress. It became a political prison. Now it is a museum. Domenico Trezzini erected the Peter and Paul Cathedral here in 1712-1733, which is a masterpiece of architecture. The cathedral with its spire dominates the whole panorama of the Neva banks.

S1: What’s the height of the Cathedral?

The cathedral remain the city’s tallest structure which is 122, 5 high. Russian tsars were buried in it, with the exception of Nicolas II.

Guide 1: Here we’re in the very centre of the city. Have a look around. This is Senate’s Square. You can see the Bronze Horseman in Decembrists’ Square. The famous statue of Peter the Great, de signed by the architect Falconet, is in the middle of the square. Peter I is depicted as a rider with a laurel wreath. The monument was erected in 1782.Being very simple but at the same time dynamic and expressive this monument is a fine example monument sculpture.

S2: What splendid building is behind the monument?

Guide 2: It’s Saint Isaac’s Cathedral. It was built in 1818-1852 by the architect August de Montferrand. St. Isaac’s Cathedral is one of the most beautiful cathedrals. From the observation place you can see a wonderful panorama of the whole city. It’s the third largest cathedral.

S3: And which is the first?

The first is St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome and the second one is St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

S4: It sounds very interesting.

Guide 1: And now we’re reaching the Admiralty.The Admiralty is the architectural and compositional centre of the city. It was originally a shipyard. It was designed be the Russian architect Zakharov in 1806-1823. A 73 m peak dominates the structure.

S5: What is there on top of the Admiralty Spire?

On the peak there is a model of Peter the Great’s ship has become the city’s symbol.

Guide 2: Next comes square with the world’stallest monolith-Alexander Column. It was built by A. Montferrand in 1837 in honour of the victory of Russia in the patriotic War of 1812 over Napoleon.

S7: What is the magnificent building with a beautiful arch and a chariot of six horses?

It’s the General Staff building designed by Carlo Rossi.

Now we’re facing the Winter Palace.

S8: Oh, it’s the famous Russian baroque style! It’s majestic!

At present The Winter palace houses the collections of the State Hermitage.

Guide 2: Now turn to the left and look at the marvelous church Saviour-on-the Blood. It was built in a purely Russian style by the architect A. Parland in 1883-1907.It was erected at the place where an attempt to assassinate the tsar Alexander II was made.

Teacher: Our city is full of old mansions, which were owned by very rich counts and princes. Now the history of these buildings is going to return to life. We invited the people who are responsible for these buildings to tell us some words about them. The first word is given to Michael Piotrovskiy, the Director of the Hermitage.

Teacher: After leaving school two students are going to be architects. They drew the buildings of their dream, which would decorate our city. Now they’ll show their projects. Please, S1 begin.

S1: I’d like to be architect. I suggest such a project of the building. Nowdays many architects erect houses in modern style, but it’s inappropriate for the centre of the city. This project is made in classical style; you can see a lot of marvelous stain-glass window and columns. I consider this building to be an exhibition hall in the city centre.

S2: I called my building “Silver Rain”. I’d like to be a designer. I have always enjoyed modern style. It will be a shopping center for teenagers and the youth. There will be a lot of shops and boutiques there. You will be able to find all kinds of fashionable clothes to all tastes in the center. The building is designed in modern style. Its height is thirty metres. There is a big parking nearby. Inside the shopping center there are a lot of cafes and restaurants. There will be a big playground for kids. “ Silver Rain” will be situated in green area in the outskirts of the city.
