Good afternoon, dear children. I’m glad to see you. Today we’ll have a very interesting theme for talking.

But the heading of our theme is unknown. We have only some letters a some figures.

Look at the board. Here we can see some figures a on your desks you can find the task.

Let’s start.

Oh, good for you, children! Yes! Today we will speak about Great Britain, especially about England a London. What do you associate with London? What do you know about it? So, let’s imagine that we are going to travel to London. We will travel by a double-decker bus.

But to make our bus driving we should into 2 teams.

I’ll give you tickets with the numbers of your places.

London is a capital of England. It’s a very beautiful town and we’ll visit some very interesting place.

Look left! Here we can see a Tower of London. It’s the most ancient building in London. It’s was founded in the 11^th century by William the Conqueror. Over the centuries the Tower of London has been a fortress, a a royal palace, when the king and the Queen lived and a state prison. Now it is a museum. The ravens are one of the most famous at the Tower of London. All the ravens have names , Z, Ronnie, Rex, Regina. So , for over 900 years these unique birds have been guarding the Tower of London. There are about 30 birds across the river Thames. Tower Bridge is the biggest and the most beautiful of them. It was built in 1894 and is made of two parts when can be lefted , for ships passing under the bridge.

Now we are going to visit St. Paul’s Cathedral. This building is absolutely unique and beautiful. It was founded by Sir Christopher Wren. It stands on the same place where many years ago in 604 AD a wooden cathedral dedicated to St. Paul was built. Then it was destroyed by fire and rebuilt a number of times in different styles. Now, major ceremonial functions take place here.

Look right! Here you can see British Museum, when one of the famous museum in the world. It was founded in 1753. Today it’s galleries total 4,5 km in length. Here you can see unique collections of coins and medals, sculptures, drawing and paintings of the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Japanese and many others people. Of course, here you can see a mummy.

Now, I’ll give you material for making the mummy in your teams. I’ll give you 2 minutes.

Do you know something about the Big Ben? Big Ben is the biggest clock-bell. It weight 13, 5 tons. Near the Big Ben you can see the Westminster Abbey. This building impressive in appearance and size. Now the Abbey is used for the coronations and royal weddings. Here you can see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There is Poet’s Corner with the tombs and memorials of many British poet and writers such as Shakespeare, Byron, and Dickens.

Now, I’ll give you 2 sheets of paper with the 13d sonnet of William Shakespeare. You should read them as quickily as you can. And the second task for you is to draw the Poet’s Corner.

Now we are going to visit the Buckingham Palace, is the official home of the British Royal family in London. Every day at 11.30 a.m. you can see the beautiful ceremony of the changing the quard. What do you know about the Queen of Great Britain? Yes, the Queen of Great Britain is Elizabeth the second. The national song of the country is « God Save the Queen».
