Introduction
I am stating the comparison of two schools as the comparison of two temples of knowledge because the people in India call schools as “Temple Of Knowledge” as it is the source of inspiration and enlightenment of knowledge.
I have chosen this topic of comparison of two schools because I have been working in Hindi school for thirty five years and taught some students who lived and studied in an Indian school (Krishna Charitable Trust’s Krishna School & Jr. College) and not long ago, one of them moved to St. Petersburg and now he is studying in this school 653rd state school named after Rabindranath Tagore of the Kalininskiy region. Thanks to his opinion, I would like to share his story with my colleagues.
As this school is the only schools in whole Russia teaching the Hindi language and KCT’s is the only school in the whole western India which teaches Russian language, I thought the comparison of two, such rare schools will be interesting. I found that there are differences in some things that we even can’t think of.
The system of education of SCC board schools in India is totally different that of in Russia. The curriculum of the school is fixed not by the central government but the regional government (District) the SSC education of Krishna Charitable Trust’s Krishna school & Jr. The College was fixed by the administration of Pune. But the CBSE system of the school is the same as of in Russia that is the curriculum is fixed by the central government, that is, in KCT’s KSJC by Delhi and in 653rd by Moscow.
Also all subjects in Russian schools are taught in Russian language whereas in India it depends on the medium of the school, that is, some schools teach all subjects in Hindi, some use Marathi as the medium, but the maximum number of schools use English as the medium for teaching.

Introduction of the school
Name | Krishna Charitable Trust’s Krishna School & Jr College | 653rdstate school named afterRabindranath Tagore |
City | Malkapur, Karad | Saint-Petersburg |
Type of school | Private | Government |
KCT’s Krishna School& Jr.College started working in the year 1985 and became the only school in the whole western Indian teaching Russian language in the year 2007. The reason of introducing Russian language in this school was the love of the owners of the school to Russia.

Way the students get to school & pre-school procedure
In Russia almost all students get to school on foot or using public transport but in India schools have their own buses as most of the students live far away from the school. In India in every school there is a tradition of some pre-school procedures which is known as an assembly, at the assembly the whole school gathers at a fixed place and the day is started with a prayer then the pledge and the national anthem after all these some important information is declared and a good thought is said then the students go to their respected classes.

Schedule
Russian schools have recesses after every period while Indian schools have only one 20 minute recess, mainly this difference is because in Indian schools students don’t have to leave their respected class and teachers come to their respective class period wise, while in Russian schools students go to the classes of respective subject teachers. These differences of recess cause a great difference in the school timings usually an Indian school works from 8a.m. to 2:30p.m. and includes 9 periods in a day (exceptional is Saturday, on Saturdays school gets over at 12:30 and has 5 periods) whereas 653rd school in general works from 9a.m. to 4p.m. and includes 7 periods in a day. One more difference in the periods is that in 653rd a period has 45 minutes while in KCT’s Krishna school& Jr. College the period is only 30 minutes long.

Uniform
The system of school uniform in India is totally different. Every school has its own uniform, which is very strict even the sweaters are provided by the schools. The school uniform in KCT’s Krishna school & Jr.Collegehad the symbol of the school on almost everything (Shirt, Belt, Socks etc.). As an additional part KCT’s school had an i-card which included the basic information about the student (Name, Standard, telephone number and address) and was like an entry-pass to the school. The difference of uniform of every school in India made discipline much easier. Even the main reason behind having a school uniform in India is to keep equality amongst the children; due to the uniform no one can identify the financial condition of the children’s family.
In Russia the school uniform is fixed by the administration of every school and doesn’t have any school symbol on it but the goal of having a uniform in Russian school is also the same maintaining equality amongst the children.

Architecture
The difference in the architecture of these two schools is mainly due to the area with a hot climate the building of the school is more spacious and open, whereas the architecture of 653rd state school has closed buildings as the climatic conditions here are mostly cold. And as I have already mentioned that there is a tradition of assembly in Indian schools, so they have an open space in the centre of the school in front of a stage. Also the classes in Indian schools are much bigger as the number of students in a class in the school can reach up to 60 and in the college till 130. Indian schools also don’t have cloakrooms as we have in Russia as the climatic conditions outside the school and inside it are almost the same.

Educational System
In Russia there is a single educational curriculum but in India the educational system is divided into two SSC, that is, state board and CBSE, that is, national board. Also the system of testing the students is totally different, Russian remarks system is based on daily assessment and two exams ОGEafter 9th standard and EGE after 11th standard. While in India every year there are 6 examinations [4 unit tests (50 marks each subject), a terminal examination (100 marks each subject) and the annual examination (100 marks each subject)] also there are two exams SSC after 10th standard and HSC exam after 12th standard. Russian school standards are 9+2=11 while Indian schools have standards 10+2=12 the last two standards in Indian schools are known as junior colleges. One more big difference is that in Russian schools students study every subject till 11th standard while in Indian schools every subject has to be studied only till 10th standard, for 11th& 12th standards students choose only 3 subjects and study only the respected subjects.
KG students of KCT’s school
The biggest difference is that the pre-Kindergarten, junior-KG and senior KG are also counted as school years so children in India start going to school from the age of three years.
And in Russia there are also KG classes but they are not as strict as in India (don’t have uniform, don’t have examinations etc.)
