Shakira Ripoll, or just Shakira, is a very popular singer. She is also a songwriter, a producer, and a dancer. Shakira comes from Colombia in South America, though her mother is Spanish and her father is Lebanese. Shakira doesn't have any brothers or sisters, but she's got lots of relatives in Italy and Spain. Her birthday is on 2nd February. Shakira is rather short and slim. She has long, wavy blond hair and big brown eyes. Her name comes from the Arabic word which means "graceful". She can speak lots of foreign languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, and Italian, and she can perform Arab belly dancing. She's really good at it. Shakira sings and performs in many genres, including folk, pop and rock. She loves experimenting and doesn't want to limit herself. She says, she is the architect of her own life. Today she has ten music albums and gives live concerts all over the world. She's the winner of many music awards.

Her boyfriend is a football player. He is much taller than she. Shakira never misses his football matches. She also has a lot of other interests. For instance, she is fond of world history. Alexander the Great is one of her favourite historic heroes. Shakira helps other people a lot. She is the head of the Barefoot Foundation. This organisation helps poor children in Colombia. They build schools, provide food and help poor children in their studies. What is more, Shakira also travels around the world to help children in need.
