Using information and communication technologies in organizing students' cognitive activity

В статье рассматриваются вопросы использования информационно-коммуникативных технологий на уроках английского языка. Актуальность темы обусловлена обновлением содержания обучения, постановкой задач формирования у школьников приемов самостоятельного приобретения знаний и познавательных интересов, формирования социальных компетентностей и активной жизненной позиции.

Using information and communication technologies in organizing students' cognitive activity

The main carrier of information for students is the teacher, he requires the student to concentrate, focus, and strain his memory. Not every student is able to work in such a mode. Psychological characteristics of character, the type of perception of the child become the cause of failure. At the same time, modern requirements for the level of education do not allow reducing the amount of information necessary for the student to master the topic of the lesson.

However, when organizing a lesson using computer programs, information is provided to students in a colorful design, using animation effects, in the form of text, diagrams, graphs, and drawings. All this, according to modern didactics, allows for a more visual and accessible explanation of the educational material than in oral form. It is also very important that in such lessons the student can work individually, advancing in comprehending new material at his own pace, returning to what he did not understand, if necessary, or running ahead

The computer is loyal to the diversity of student responses: it does not accompany the students' work with laudatory or disparaging comments, which develops their independence and creates a favorable socio-psychological atmosphere in the lesson, giving them self-confidence, which is an important factor in the development of their individuality.

Thus, speaking about the advantages of students working with a computer, we should name its undeniable advantages:

  • general cultural development of students;

  • improvement of computer skills;

  • improvement of the language level;

  • creation of a favorable psychological climate;

  • increasing the motivation of students and their interest in the subject;

  • self-affirmation of students;

  • the possibility of implementing individualization of learning;

  • implementation of the principle of feedback;

  • greater opportunities for visual presentation of material;

  • elimination of time for writing material on the board;

  • saving the teacher's use of materials;

  • improving the process of checking students' work;

  • increasing the authority of the teacher;

  • combining control and self-control; objective and timely assessment of students' actions;

  • activating the skills of independent work.

The use of modern pedagogical technologies allows us to move:

  • from learning as a function of memorization to learning as a process of mental development;

  • from a static model of knowledge to a dynamic system of mental actions;

  • from focusing on the average student to differentiated and individual training programs;

  • from external motivation for learning to internal moral and volitional regulation.

Today, new methods using information and communication technologies are opposed to traditional teaching of foreign languages. This form of organizing lessons is the most accessible for the teacher's work and its use in lessons in a Russian school.

The use of information and communication technologies in foreign language lessons reveals the enormous potential of the computer as an effective teaching tool. Computer training programs allow you to train various types of speech activity and combine them in different combinations, understand language phenomena, contribute to the formation of linguistic abilities, create communicative situations, automate language and speech actions, and also ensure the implementation of an individual approach and the intensification of independent work of students

The use of information and communication technologies and Internet resources in English lessons allows me to more fully implement a whole range of methodological, didactic, pedagogical and psychological principles. The use of computer educational programs in English lessons increases the effectiveness of solving communicative problems, develops different types of speech activity of students, and forms a stable motivation for foreign language activity of students in the lesson. The combination of information technology with the project method allows schoolchildren to practically apply their knowledge, skills and abilities, and therefore is one of the forms of organizing research and cognitive activities, in which cooperative collective activity is successfully implemented, which allows increasing the motivation for learning a foreign language. The use of information and communication technologies and Internet resources in English lessons makes it possible to achieve stable positive results and allows me to teach in classes of different levels: general education, lyceum, with in-depth study of English - and achieve good results.

In my opinion, the use of information and communication technologies and Internet resources in English lessons is relevant today, because the teacher must be interesting for his students.
