Lesson№1
Good morning, boys and girls! Glad to see you! How are you?
What is the date today? Who is absent?
At the beginning of the lesson I am going to show you a short film. (video№ 5- 3 min.) Watching this film, try to think about the topic of our lesson.
Can you tell me what we are going to speak about? Can you see that this film is black and white at the beginning and then it is coloured? Why?
Because of the new technologies.
Yes, you are right! Do you know what changes will happen in our future life? Yes, we can suggest it. So, what is the topic of our lesson?
New technologies and our future life.
Where can we find the information about changes in our society?
In different scientific texts, documentary films, in the Internet, of course.
-Well, ouraim of the lesson is:
* to find information in texts how new technologies will change our future life . We should not only find this information but to tell about it, we will work in teams, so we should make stories in teams about them.
What should we do during the lesson to realize this aim?
to work with the text
to work with information
to do some exercises
These areour tasks.
And what about results we’re going to have at the end of the lesson? If you have got some ideas about these changes you should make your own stories in teams. (4 min.)
Before reading a text, I would like to conduct a survey. Answer the questions, please.
№ | Questions | Yes | No |
1 | Is modern technology turning us into “couch potatoes”? | ||

The teacher gives the surveys to fill the necessary information. (3 min.)
- So, what our results? Let’s compare our opinions with the British teenagers’ ones.
The teacher shows the slide to see the material.
The students read aloud the results of the survey. (2 min.)

19-20 min
Lesson № 2
Let’s read the text. List the spheres which will be changed in our life according to the opinion of British people in future.
Our future
Can you imagine what our life will be like in the year 2050? Do you think that you will fly off for a holiday on the moon or you will take your dog for a walk in virtual reality?
We asked people from different countries to tell us about their ideas what they think our life will be like in the future. The results demonstrate different opinions. Some people are optimistic about living in a modern world but others are afraid of changes because of the new technologies.
For example, friendship - one of the most important human relationship - will exist only through the Internet. What is more, future husbands and wives will meet each other in this way! Computers could become the best friends for many people. We will be more isolated because we will have little real human contact.
The process of educationwill change a lot. If children use computers at school during their lessons, they won’t need to calculate because there will be special programs to do sums at Math.
Even writing by hand will be a thing of past. Special robots will help children with their homework. They won’t have to go to school. Educational programmes will be used to teach students.
Some people think that home life will be better. They believe that by 2050 robots will do the housework and we will eat ready-made food. We could cook only for fun and order everything we want over mobile phones.
Space exploration will become popular. The man will regularly visit other planets. They also believe that travel on our own planet will change. There won’t any cars in the city centre. Solar-powered cars will be instead of the cars we use today.
Also, some people are sure that in future our medicine will be better and our doctors could treat patients with cancer and AIDS. We could find out the ways to live longer. Our planet will be healthier.
Only we could make our Earth the better place where it will be comfortable and safe to live.
What spheres can you find? What information is interesting for you? (6min.)
Let’s read the text again. (Students read the text very thoroughly). For questions 1-4, choose the best answer A, B, C or D.
Many people believe that in 2050
We will play intellectual computer games.
We will never leave our homes.
We will not have any friends.
We will find partners through computers.
The text says that
Students will write with typewriters.
Many people will travel to other planets.
Lessons will be different.
Everyone will learn to cook.
As for cars, some people believe that
We will not have any.
They will work using solar-power.
They will pollute air.
They will be more expensive.
Many people think that in 2050
We will find the way to treat cancer and AIDS.
People will stop dying
Robots will work as doctors.
People won’t be ill. (4 min.)
Tell me, please, the short summary of the text. The spheres we have highlighted will help you to cope with this task.
The teacher asks different students to speak about each sphere from the text.
Thank you very much for your work. (5-6 min.)
- Let’s have a musical pause to have a rest!
The students listen to the music and try to imagine a picture which could reflect their thoughts. 15 min
Now we are going to work all together. Look at the spidegram.
The teacher offers to work with a spidegram (slide 13)
- It will be a brainstorm. Say how you think our life will change in 2050. All ideas could help you to make your own stories in teams. So, work very hard to be ready to use our imagination. I think it is so interesting to dream about our future life and make predictions how our society will change.
The students write their own ideas about nowadays problems in their copybooks, discussing them in the classroom.
The decisions how these problems will be solved in 2050 the teacher write on the board. The students find out the different ways to decide these points.
Suggested answers
Health | Speak at first about problems in our time. Our health is not perfect. There are a lot of different diseases that doctors can’t cure. Special electronic devices are not so good to help us be healthy all the time. Doctors are not qualified enough to cure all illnesses. Decisions Special pills to make people live longer, regeneration of a man: make some parts of our body using 3D printer, to put special chips into a man’s body to control the health and do special operation to make him feel better; to give people the chance to be young all their life. Use pictures to make a story about medicine in future. Invent something useful which could change the nowadays situation in medicine. (Why?) |
Food | Speak at first about problems in our time. We spend a lot of time to cook. We haven’t enough natural resources to feed people. Electronic devices don’t operate widely to make people free. Decisions Meal pills, a special machine which could give ready-made food automatically(the food could be in tube), a restaurant with special tables where we could find buttons and choose the meal we want, a robot which could guess your wishes, could predict and bring the food you want. Make a story to show how people will have meals in future.(Why?) |
Transport | Speak at first about problems in our time. The air is much polluted because of cars which use petrol. There is a heavy traffic on the roads because of a number of cars. 3. Cars are not perfect to use them. Decisions Solar power, special batteries to charge cars’ engines; flying public transport. Invent your own ideal car. Use pictures to describe changes in modeling transport in future. (Why?) |
Education | Speak at first about problems in our time. Schools are not equipped well with different electronic appliances. Students have to bring a lot of books to school, so their bags are very heavy. Teachers cannot sometimes pay attention to every student at the lesson. They haven’t time to listen to them and to find out their weak points. Students have to use public transport to go to school; as a result, they can be late. Decisions Make your own project about an ideal school (robot teachers, electronic books, different gadgets). Perhaps, you could design your own project of school. (Why?) |
Relationships | Speak at first about problems in our time. People spend less time with their relatives. They cannot meet relatives very often if they live far from each other. They use Skype to communicate in this case. The tickets of different kinds of transport are expensive, so we couldn’t spend our holidays all together but it is important to have good contact with all members of the family. Sometimes they live in different places. Television takes a big role in our life. We spend a lot of time watching different programmes instead of communication with our relatives. Decisions Skype will change its functions. We could use holograms to communicate with each other. We could celebrate our holidays all together in the place we want: on the Moon, in Brazil... Make your own machine which could make our relationships closer. (Why?) |
Housing | Speak at first about problems in our time. People all over the world haven’t enough places to live comfortably. We have to do everything at home. Sometimes we are busy or tired to do the work about the house: to clean rooms, to cook, to iron clothes, to do washing up, to grow vegetables. We use electricity to maintain our houses. Decisions We could live underground, on the water, in space, robots will do our work about the house, and we’ll use solar power to make our devices work. Use pictures to make a story. Design your own house of future. (Why?) |
Space | Speak at first about problems in our time. We can’t travel freely because spaceships are not good to give the chance to every man to be a tourist. We haven’t enough information about the life on other planets. We haven’t any contact with other creatures which live in space, on other planets. We don’t know anything about them. Decisions We’ll invent the way how to travel in space comfortably, make our spaceships more modern; move from one place to another, find intellectual creatures; get more information how to make our life better, visit other planets: to have holidays -to develop different industries, -to plant different plants, -to create special places to watch stars, -to construct spaceships according to resources which has every planet. You should design special ways to travel in space to have holidays, to have factories, make a map of our galaxy, using pictures and describe every planet. (Why?) |

- Well, We are going to work in groups. You should remember the rules how to work in groups. You have different duties: to offer ideas, to write a story, to draw illustrations, to cut pictures, to glue them. Help each other! Please be polite and cooperative!
- Now you should choose one of the topics to suggest the main problems we have nowadays and how the situation will change in 2050. Find 3 main solutions of the problem. What is the most suitable solution? Why? (5min.)
45 min
Lesson №3
During this lesson students work in groups, discuss the problems we have in our society nowadays. Then, choosing one of the topic, they find 3 solutions of these problems. They describe the future life collecting their ideas, made in groups, in a good story. They make stories, using the Internet, pictures, which have been prepared by the teacher beforehand.

Lesson №4
The students prepare their work to present to the class. (15 min)
The groups of students present works. The other teams can ask the questions and take part in adding their own ideas. 20 (min)
Reflection
Let’s remember the aim of our lesson:
to find information in texts how new technologies will change our future life and to make stories in teams about them.
Have we found the necessary information in the text?
Have we done any exercises?
Have we discussed problems we have nowadays in our society?
Have we found the solutions of these problems?
So, have we achieved our aim?
Thank you for your work. Do you like yourself at the lessons?
Now you have cards with the sun, a cloud and rain. Think a bit and show us how you feel after the lessons. If you choose the sun I can guess that you feel comfortable, if you choose a cloud, you have some problems, rain- you haven’t coped with many tasks and we must work together to improve our English the next time.
I see that almost everybody has done everything and you feel very well during our lessons. All your stories are rather interesting and the illustrations, made to show us your inventions, are marvelous. Well done!
(3 min.)
Homework
- Write your stories in your copybooks. (2 min.)
- Goodbye. I wish you a good luck. Have a nice day!
