In this guide, I’m going to tell every possible way to install Windows 10 on your brand new computer. However, it’s very simple if you follow carefully. Once you install your first Windows, the second time is no brainer as easy as pie.

One of the things you need to keep in mind is that the BIOS option is different for most manufacturers. But it’s always under the Boot options, so that shouldn’t be so hard to find after all.

How to Install Windows 10 from Pendrive?

This is the most common way of installing an operating system nowadays. There are many software like Rufus which brings down the pain of creating a bootable USB drive. But very luckily, you are going to be using the Media Creation Tool which automatically downloads and turns your Pendrive into a bootable device.

Here’s how you can install Windows 10 from a Pendrive or USB drive. As I said before, it’s different for every motherboard manufacturer. If you’re totally new to this, you might consider reading your motherboard’s manual a bit.

Make sure you inserted the bootable USB device (use USB 3.0 for faster installation).

Go to boot options in BIOS settings.

Now you have to set your Pendrive to the first boot option. This means, your Pendrive will be booted at first which will launch the installation of Windows.

After that, follow the steps on screen and just click “next, next” when needed. There’s one thing to keep in mind though. When you are creating the partitionsfor the different drives, you will see the total about of storage you have on your hard disk or SSD. Make sure to divide the total storage as per your need.

How to Install Windows 10 from DVD Drive?

This is much simpler as you didn’t have to go through all the process of downloading and creating a bootable device. Unlike me, if you have a CD-Drive, this is great. Similarly as when using the Pendrive, you also need to set your CD-Drive to the first boot priority device which will launch the setup for Windows 10.

Similarly, as when using the Pendrive, you also need to go to the BIOS settings and to boot options and set your CD-Drive to the first boot priority device which will launch the setup for Windows 10.

Once you get into the setup, just follow the on-screen steps such as clicking “next, next” and then don’t forget to create your partitions carefully. The whole installation took me around 40 minutes, and this might vary for you depending on your storage speed. 

Downloading the Windows 10 ISO File

Thanks to Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool which will help you download the official Windows 10 ISO file. You don’t need a key to install and use Windows 10 and you’re better off if you download from Microsoft itself which is really safe.

There are some other third party websites where you can get the Windows 10 ISO file but in my opinion, it’s best if you directly download through the setup tool.

It’s really simple. All you need to do is download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and then you decide how you install Windows 10 on your computer. I didn’t have a CD-Drive. I had to use my pen drive to create a bootable USB device.

If you’re building your first computer, you probably don’t have another computer to do all these. I would prefer asking a friend to help or you can go to a local store where might get the unactivated version of Windows 10. However, I strongly recommend downloading from Microsoft itself.

Once you open the Media Creation Tool, you’ll find all the options available. But nothing to worry, it’s fully automatic and after choosing your option, you sit back while the tool downloads and creates a bootable device for you.
