1.My childhood was a fairly happy one. My parents were a little strict, but they were fair and they certainly loved me. It was clear right from the start that they wanted the best for me, and also that they had high hopes for me.

2. The room was completely dark. She left for the light switch but nothing happened. There was no power. She held her breath as she crept across the room, stretching her hand out in front of her. Suddenly, something grabbed her wrist. She screamed…

3. Spencer carefully picked up the bullet and placed it in a clear plastic bag. Handing it to Sergeant Williams, he said, “Take that back to the forensics people. We’ll soon find out what kind of weapon this guy was using”

4. “We need to be ready to attack’, said Lord Greenface. “I have received information from my spies about a plan to invade our planet and steal our research.” “Who is going to invade?” asked Kring, nervously clutching his laser gun. “And how did they find out about our research?”

5. Amy jumped out of the taxi and ran towards the restaurant. She hated being late. What if Tom had already left? She pushed open the door and saw that the restaurant was lit with hundred of candles. There was only one other person there. He turned and saw her and his face lit up. “Amy”, he smiled. “I knew you’d come”.

6. A long time ago there were a king and queen who were unhappy because they were childless. But it happened that once when the queen was bathing, a frog crept out of the water on to the land, and said to her, "Your wish shall be fulfilled, before a year has gone by, you shall have a daughter." What the frog had said came true, and the queen had a little girl who was so pretty…

Творческая работа в форме пятистишия-синквейна (это стих из пяти строк, который требует систематизации информации в сжатой форме по теме). Структура пятистишья:

Первая строка – одно слово, описывающее тему (обычно имя существительное).

Вторая строка – два слова, описывающие тему (обычно имена прилагательные).

Третья строка – три слова, описывающие тему (обычно глаголы).

Четвертая строка – фраза из четырех слов, показывающая отношение к теме.

Последняя строка – одно слово (обычно синоним слова из первой строки), которое еще раз подчеркивает сущность темы.

-I like humour too, but I recommend you to read more. Reading is the best way of spending free time.

-I think it`s easier to watch TV or video.

What did you do yesterday?

-I read «Captain`s Daughter».

-What a bore! I watched the film.

-But I like historical books.Reading is my hobby. Do you like reading?

-Frankly speaking I prefer watching TV and video. Reading gives me a headache.

-Really? And what book did you like in your childhood?

-My mum read fairy-tales to me. I liked to listen to them very much.

-I recommend you to read a fantasy book. I`m sure you`ll like it.

-OK. And do you like reading?

-Yes, books help me not to feel bored and teach me a lot of things.

-Most of my classmates have already read «Theatre» by Maugham.

-I have never read books by Maugham. They are not interesting for me.

-And what books do you like?

-I like to read about adventures. They usually have very interesting storylines and they make me forget about everyday problems.

-But I find most books by Maugham very enjoyable.I can read them again and again.

-Well, maybe I`ll take his stories from the library.

-I`m sure you`ll like them.

-My granny loves books about great people. But I find them very dull.

-I agree with you. There`s nothing better than comics. It`s so interesting to read and to look at the colourful illustrations.

-What rubbish! Comics are interesting only for small children. You`d better read adventure stories. I`m sure you`ll like them.

-I think reading takes too much time. It`s better to watch TV or play computer games.

-Take this book. We`ll talk after you read it.

-Reading gives me a headache. But if you recommend me, I`ll try.
