DISTANCE LEARNING

Бериккалиева Алтынай

Nowadays, Internet technologies have allowed most people to learn remotely, forming a huge network with an unprecedented amount of information and students and teachers involved in the training. Even some 50 years ago it was impossible to imagine, and now it is a reality that claims to play a leading role in education.

DISTANCE LEARNING
Distance learning (DL) is the interaction of a teacher and students among themselves at a distance, reflecting all the components inherent in the educational process (goals, content, methods, organizational forms, teaching aids) and implemented by specific means of Internet technologies or other means involving interactivity. Distance learning is an independent form of learning, information technologies in distance learning are the leading means.

Technologies

Modern distance learning is based on the use of the following basic elements:

information transmission media (mail, television, radio, information communication networks),

methods dependent on the technical environment of information exchange.

Currently [when?], Interactive interaction with students through information communication networks, from which the Internet users environment is massively distinguished, is promising.

In 2003, the ADL initiative group began developing a standard for online distance learning SCORM, which involves the widespread use of Internet technologies. The introduction of standards contributes to both the deepening of requirements for the composition of distance learning and the requirements for software.

Benefits

Distance learning allows you to:

reduce the cost of training (no need to rent premises, trips to the place of study, both students and teachers, etc.);

reduce training time (collection, travel time);

the participant can independently plan the time, place and duration of classes;

conduct training for a large number of people;

improve the quality of education through the use of modern tools, voluminous electronic libraries, etc.

create a unified educational environment (especially important for corporate training).

History

In Europe at the end of the 18th century, with the advent of regular and affordable postal services, “correspondent education” emerged. Pupils received study materials by mail, corresponded with teachers and passed exams to an authorized person or in the form of scientific work. In Russia, this method appeared at the end of the XIX century.

T he beginning of the 20th century is characterized by rapid technological growth, the presence of a telegraph and a telephone. But there are no reliable facts about their use in training. At the same time, the era of “correspondent education” continues, many universities around the world have led and are still leading it.The advent of radio and television has made changes in distance learning methods. It was a significant breakthrough, the audience of training has increased hundreds of times. Many still remember the educational TV shows that have been going on since the 50s. However, television and radio had a significant drawback - the student was not able to get feedback. In 1969, in the UK, the first university in the world of distance education was opened - the Open University of Great Britain, it was named so as to show its accessibility due to the low price and the lack of the need to attend classes often.Other well-known universities with distance learning programs abroad: University of South Africa (1946), FernUniversität in Hagen (Germany, 1974), National Technological University (USA, 1984) (DO programs for engineering specialties), Open University Hagen (Germany), INTEC College Cape Town (South Africa), Spanish National University of Distance Learning, Open Business School of the British Open University, Australian Territorial Information Network.

How did distance learning come about?

Toward the beginning of the eighties of the twentieth century, advances in communications allowed the use of new data transmission methods and satellite communications to train students, graduate students or staff (in the case of corporate training) at a completely new, previously unseen level - now it did not matter where man, it was only important to have a network for communication with the trainees.

Nowadays, Internet technologies have allowed most people to learn remotely, forming a huge network with an unprecedented amount of information and students and teachers involved in the training. Even some 50 years ago it was impossible to imagine, and now it is a reality that claims to play a leading role in education.
